What is every woman past her mid-twenties looking for in her skincare? Retinol! This potent anti-aging ingredient still tops the list of multi-tasking skincare products for me. It single-handedly tackles wrinkles, spots, and scars by encouraging faster skin renewal. Plus it adds a beautiful glow to the skin! Sadly though, there aren’t many promising Retinol formulations in the Indian skincare market. Luckily, this seems to be changing now with a few Indian brands bringing out Retinol serums. I was recently gifted the Pure By Priyanka Retinoxx Skin Renewal Lotion and it is a strong contender for being the best Retinol in India. Keep on reading to find out all about it!
Before jumping into the formula of the product, let us talk a bit about the packaging. Since the Pure By Priyanka Retinoxx is a lotion, it comes in a pump packaging as opposed to a dropper packaging. I personally prefer pump packaging as it minimizes air contact and makes the product last longer. The bottle is a frosted glass one while the lid on the pump is made of plastic. The bottle in itself looks fancy with its label art and frosted effect but the lid could have been fancier in my opinion. Functionality-wise, the packaging works really well and is sturdy and leakproof.
One bottle contains 40ml of product and is priced at INR 1595. It is definitely on the pricier end of the spectrum but for the quantity and the quality of the formula, I feel that the price is justified.
The Formula And Ingredients
Pure by Priyanka Retinoxx has a runny lotion consistency that blends easily on the skin to an invisible finish. Diving into the ingredients, apart from 2% Retinol, a star ingredient for me was Azelaic Acid. I have previously done a whole post on Azelaic Acid and why it is a boon for blemished skin. When combined with skin-renewing Retinol, the benefits of this ingredient further get amplified. Another great fact about the formula is that the brand has added a bunch of soothing and hydrating ingredients to the product, to counteract the possible irritation caused by Retinol. These include Sorbitol, Hyaluronic Acid, Almond Oil, Vitamin E and Squalane, to name a few.
The brand has clearly managed to formulate this product really well because I was expecting some irritation or dryness with 2% Retinol, but I didn’t experience any! I have only used much lower concentrations of Retinol in the past but this one truly doesn’t feel like a Retinol product. It feels SLIGHTLY tingly when I use it on dry skin, but on top of a moisturizer, it feels like nothing at all, in fact, it feels hydrating. Also, it has a mild scent, possibly from the tangerine peel oil, which does not bother me.

How To Use The Pure By Priyanka Retinoxx Lotion?
Whenever I use the Pure By Priyanka Retinoxx Lotion, my skincare routine does not contain any other actives. I simply wash my face with a gentle cleanser, use a hydrating toner followed by a light moisturizer, and then Retinoxx. You can use it before moisturizer too but I prefer adding a layer of moisturizer first to buffer the product a bit. I like to use Retinoxx on alternate nights and use other actives on the remaining nights of the week.
Make sure to use a sunscreen every single day when using any retinol product at night. Also, avoid chemical peels when you start using Retinoxx to make sure not to overexfoliate your skin. Patch test before the first use.
What Does The Pure By Priyanka Retinoxx Skin Clarity Lotion Do?
The Pure By Priyanka Retinoxx claims to reduce the signs of aging, treat acne and acne marks, and make the skin plump and supple. Personally, after using it for a month, I have seen that it does reduce blemishes and makes the skin supple and glowy.
What Skin Types Can Use The Pure By Priyanka Retinoxx?
The brand states that all skin types can use Retinoxx. I believe that it will definitely work well for normal to oily skin on its own. Dry and sensitive skin may need a thick layer of moisturizer underneath. Also, Retinol is typically recommended for aging skin, so I will recommend women (or men) over the age of 25 to use this product.
If you are new to Retinol, maybe try a product with a lower concentration of Retinol and work your way up to this one. Or you can buffer it with a lot of moisturizer in the beginning and then move to using it in its concentrated form.
To conclude, if you were to ask me, which Retinol to buy in India, I will definitely recommend Pure By Priyanka Retinoxx. It works beautifully on my skin and can help anyone with dullness, blemishes or fine lines. Do give it a shot if you are looking for a product to address these concerns.
