My skin has been demanding extremely gentle cleansers these days, thanks to some sensitivity caused by hormonal breakouts. This is why I picked up the Dr. Sheth’s Basic Brightening Daily Cleanser, hoping that it will be a mild yet effective face wash. I already adore the Dr. Sheth’s Basic Brightening Daily Peel and the Date and Quinoa Under Eye Cream, and therefore had high hopes from this product too. Read on to find out whether this face wash lived up to my expectations or not.

The Dr. Sheth’s Basic Brightening Cleanser is an SLS and paraben-free, pH balanced face wash that claims to remove dirt and pollutants from the pores of the skin while hydrating and brightening it. Some of the key ingredients that I love are rosehip extracts that reduce pigmentation and brighten the skin, and Vitamin E and almond oil to nourish and repair the skin. This face wash also contains coconut-derived cleansing agents (Sodium cocoyl taurate) which I found quite intriguing. The packaging only lists the key ingredients but the full ingredient list is mentioned on the brand’s website. The only ingredient that may bother some people is perfume, but the product does not have a a very heavy fragrance and the scent will only be a concern for those who are extremely sensitive to fragrance in their skincare products. I personally enjoy the gentle scent of roses that this face wash emanates.
The formula is in the form of a liquidy gel which has small red specks embedded in it. It produces a small amount of lather on the face and leaves the skin clean but plump and moist. If you are someone with extremely oily skin then you may feel that this cleanser is a little too mild for you but it should work well for all other skin types. It is potent enough to remove the oil my skin generates overnight and works great as a morning cleanser. In the evening, if I haven’t worn any makeup throughout the day then this face wash alone leaves me with clean pores, but if I have worn makeup I use a good makeup remover (Bioderma at the moment) before going in with this cleanser. The face wash is very gentle and my face never feels dry or stretched out after using it. It adds a subtle glow to the skin and leaves it feeling hydrated from within. If you do not follow it up with a moisturizer and have extremely dry skin then you may experience a very slight dryness after a few minutes, but I will highly recommend sealing all the goodness in with a moisturizer anyway.
The 50ml bottle of this face wash is priced at INR 375 and the 100ml bottle is priced at INR 699. The price is comparable to those of other clean skincare brands that have come out with face washes and I love that this one comes with a pump and is travel friendly. I am happy to report that just like the other products that I have tried from the brand, this one didn’t disappoint at all! Plus it is cruelty-free too. If you are someone who is looking for a gentle face wash then the Dr. Sheth’s Basic Brightening Cleanser might do the trick for you!
