2020 has been the year where I have fully discovered and experienced the power of Ayurveda. It is not just about throwing in a few herbs or spices into a concoction, it is a complete science that can give you visible results when followed properly. I would love to study Ayurveda in detail one day, but till then I can at least enjoy the efficacy of its formulations thanks to homegrown Ayurvedic brands. Amrutam is one such brand whose products are backed by the science of Ayurveda. I discovered this brand in 2020 and already have half their products in my wishlist. I purchased their Kuntal Hair Spa with Hemp and their Bhringraj Hair Therapy Shampoo+Conditioner during one of their flash sales and have been loving both the products. Here is my review of both these beautiful products.
Amrutam Kuntal Hair Spa with Hemp | Review
The Amrutam Kuntal Hair Spa with Hemp is a pre-shampoo mask that you can leave on your scalp and hair for 30 minutes to overnight before washing your hair. This product is a blend of various oils and herbal extracts that has a paste consistency that reminds of Chyawanprash for some reason. Once you massage it on your hair, it turns into a liquid with tiny solid specks embedded in it and strangely does not feel greasy at all. If you are planning to leave it on overnight then be mindful that some of the product may crumble and fall on your pillow. I personally love to apply it on my scalp and hair one hour before my bath and this works really well for me.
The Amrutam Kuntal Hair Spa comes in two variants, one is without Hemp and one is with Hemp. The hemp variant contains a ton of nourishing ingredients for the hair and stimulants for the scalp, such as Balchadd, Kapoor Kachri, Amla, Methi, Brahmi and Bhringraj. Additionally, it contains Hemp oil that not only stimulates the scalp for better hair growth but also relaxes the mind and helps with better sleep.
The brand is not kidding with their claims. Every time I apply this product on my scalp, I literally feel my stress evaporate. My head feels lighter and I feel instantly relaxed. It is the closest thing to magic that I have ever experienced! Also, I feel a slight tingling and pulsating sensation on my head, which I believe is an indicator of scalp stimulation. The product works brilliantly on this front and I have seen much faster growth of my baby hair within a couple of uses of this hair spa.
INR 1199 for a 200ml bottle is a very tiny price to pay for a product that is this good. It reduces hair fall due to breakage, improves hair growth and alleviates stress. One possible downside is that I feel that it works better for the scalp than for the dry and frizzy ends of my hair. So I concentrate this product on my scalp and apply a conditioning hair mask to the ends of my hair for the best results. If you do not have very dry hair then you can use just this product from the scalp to the tips and I am sure you will love it!
Amrutam Bhringraj Hair Therapy Shampoo + Conditioner | Review
The Amrutam Bhringraj Hair Therapy Shampoo+Conditioner is a 2 in 1 product that claims to clean as well as condition your hair. It is again a herbal blend which is SLS-free but lathers up really well thanks to Reetha extracts that the formula contains. It has a regular shampoo consistency and is an excellent option for those of you who find that most herbal shampoos do not lather well. This one can get rid of all the oils from the Kuntal Hair Spa in one rinse, but I still go in with a second cleanse for good measure. If you have a dry to normal scalp then one rinse with this shampoo should be good enough for you.
In order to use it as a conditioner, you are supposed to leave the lather on your hair for 5 to 7 minutes. The product does manage to condition the hair fairly well, in combination with the Kuntal Hair Spa. If you are someone with extremely frizzy hair then you may need to use a hair mask after this shampoo. With normal hair, you can skip conditioner when using this product. My hair smells of Reetha for several days after I use this product and I absolutely love that because it reminds me of my childhood!
This 200ml bottle is priced at INR 1189, which is a decent price to pay for a 2 in 1 product. Plus, you should keep an eye out for the various flash sales that this brand hosts. I got the Kuntal Hair Spa absolutely free with the Bhringraj Hair Therapy, which is an excellent steal in my opinion!
My Final Verdict On Amrutam Haircare
I really love both these products from Amrutam, but the Kuntal Hair Spa is truly outstanding and is unlike any other haircare product that I have tried. I will highly urge you to try this one product because it has truly been life-changing for me. The shampoo is nice too but the Kuntal Hair Spa has blown me away and I feel that it will impress you too. So do give it a shot and let me know how it works for you!
