For the longest time, I used to believe that Western skincare is more effective and potent. However, when I delved into the world of Ayurvedic skincare, I realized that it can be equally potent, if not more. Our traditional herbs and ingredients can do miracles for the skin if used in the right manner. Luckily, we have brands like Shesha Beauty that formulate compex Ayurvedic recipes for us so that we can make use of their benefits right out of the bottle. The latest product from the brand to bowl me over is the Shesha Beauty Kumkumadi Thailam. Here is my in-depth review of this magical oil.

What Is Shesha Beauty Kumkumadi Thailam
The Shesha Beauty Kumkumadi Thailam is a facial oil formulated as per Ashtanga Hrudayama, an ancient Ayurvedic text. The oil is called Kumkumadi Thailam because one of its key ingredients is saffron. This traditional Ayurvedic recipe is prepared using a number of Ayurvedic ingredients such as saffron, vetiver, sandalwood, and goat milk in a sesame oil base. This lightweight oil has a rich orange colour and the scent of sesame oil with a whiff of saffron coming through. The complete list of ingredients is provided on the packaging as well as the brand’s website, so you can check it for any potential allergens.
The oil claims to tackle pigmentation, acne scars, and non-hereditary dark circles. It promises radiant, even-toned skin with regular use.

How To Use The Shesha Beauty Kumkumadi Thailam
The Shesha Beauty Kumkumadi Thailam works the best when used at night on clean, damp skin. You can wash your face with a gentle cleanser, such as their Tejaswini Face Wash Powder. Then spritz some rose water on your skin and massage three drops of Kumkumadi Thailam on your face and neck for a few minutes. You can either wash off the oil after 30 to 45 minutes or can leave it on overnight. I personally like to leave it on overnight, but if you have sensitive skin then you can start with 45 minutes and see how it goes. The oil can make your skin photosensitive, so the brand does not recommend using it during daytime. Also, it should not be mixed with any actives. As with any other skincare product, a patch test is highly recommended before the first use.

My Experience with Shesha Beauty Kumkumadi Thailam
The brand states that one should use this product for at least 3-4 weeks for the results to be visible. I have been using this oil for more than 3 weeks now, so it seems like a good time to share my experience. I have been using the Shesha Beauty Kumkumadi Thailam almost every night for the past 3.5 weeks after cleansing and misting my face. The oil does not feel heavy or greasy on my skin and sinks in quite quickly. It does not tingle on my skin and doesn’t irritate it at all. Bear in mind, that my skin is used to strong actives and is quite resilient against most ingredients.
From the very first use, I could see a slight glow on my face the next morning and it has multiplied with time. The oil has also done a good job at fading my acne blemishes a bit. I have also noticed that I am experiencing fewer breakouts on my otherwise acne-prone skin ever since I started using this product.
Hence, I can safely say that this facial oil will provide results for those with oily and acne-prone skin that is blemished. Of course, you will need to be patient with this product and give it 1-2 months to get visible results depending on the initial state of the skin. For me, this has been yet another winner from Shesha Beauty and I will definitely recommend it to those with my skin type!
