Plum is a vegan and cruelty-free Indian brand that offers a galore of skincare and haircare products. I have tried a bunch of products from them in the past and a lot of these have impressed me. I had a travel-sized bottle of the Plum Gentle Defence Shampoo with Hibiscus and Rosemary in my collection since last year, but finally used it up because I won’t go a vacation any time soon thanks to the current Corona crisis. So without much ado, here is my review of this shampoo for all of you.

The Packaging
The Plum Gentle Defence Shampoo comes in a white packaging with blue and red lettering that actually looks quite classy. The pictures show the travel-sized mini bottle of the shampoo but the full-sized bottle also looks the same except with a handy pump. You get 300ml of product for INR 675, which is a decent mid-range price for an SLS-free shampoo.

The Formula
The Plum Gentle Defence Shampo is a 7-free formula that is free of sulphates, silicones, alcohol, parabens, phthaletes, zinc and propylene glycol. In terms of texture, the shampoo has a creamy liquid consistency with a peach colour. The shampoo contains gentle surfactants instead of SLS and also contains Hibiscus and Rosemary Extracts. Hibiscus is supposed to be really good to improve the softness and shine of the hair and Rosemary is known to help with scalp issues. The formula contains added fragrance but it is quite pleasant and mild and does not linger for too long on the hair.

My Experience with the Plum Gentle Defence Shampoo
I was honestly impressed beyond my expectations when I first used the Plum Gentle Defence Shampoo. It lathers really well and cleanses the scalp thoroughly without leaving it feeling dry or itchy. It does get rid of any flakiness that I have on my scalp even though I do not have severe dandruff. The shampoo also removes any dry shampoo residue that I usually have on my scalp with ease. The fact that it cleanses the scalp so well without drying out the hair is truly impressive. It also adds some much-needed volume at the roots which someone with fine hair like me will truly appreciate.
I have tried other haircare products from Plum in the past and found them decent but not extraordinary. This shampoo however is a really good one and I am upset that it is currently out of stock everywhere because I really want to purchase the full-sized bottle. You can try the link below to check if the shampoo has come back in stock at the time when you are reading this review, and if you do find it then I will definitely recommend picking it up.
The packaging looks so cute. I love shampoos that adds volume to the hair. Sadly, it’s out of stock. Will get my hands on them for sure.
