I have somehow never gravitated towards Lotus Makeup in the past because I tend to shy away from makeup made by skincare brands and vice versa. However, I got the opportunity to try out the Lotus Ecostay Matte Lip Lacquers for a recent work assignment and fell in love with one of the shades. Read on to find out my thoughts on the formula, and I may have a great dupe for an expensive lipstick for you guys as well 🙂
The Packaging
The Lotus Ecostay Matte Lip Lacquers come in transparent plastic tubes with a silver cap. The packaging is fairly sturdy but is not too fancy or extraordinary. The applicator is of the doe-foot kind that does a good job at precise application. It is neither too stiff nor too flexible and picks up the right amount of product. Overall the packaging is pretty decent and I like the fact that you can easily recognise the shade from afar due to the transparent tube.
The Formula
The formula of the Lotus Lip Lacquers is quite light-weight and richly pigmented. It sets quickly on the lips to a fully matte finish but does not feel heavy or drying at all. The shade Pink Glam which is a bright barbie pink was a little patchy for my pigmented lips but the shade Plum Berry was not patchy at all and gave opaque pigmentation in one swipe. The formula is not transferproof but transfers evenly and very slightly every time I eat or drink something. Of course, oily food removes the product to a large extent but it leaves behind a stain on the lips which looks quite pretty. Without eating anything, the formula will easily last on your lips for 6 hours or more.
The Shades
The Lotus Ecostay Matte Lip Lacquers come in 12 different shades ranging from pinks and peaches to deeper berries and maroons. I picked up two shades from the range – Pink Glam and Plum Berry. The shade Pink Glam is a vibrant Barbie Pink that will only suit fair skin tones and as I mentioned earlier, it went on quite patchy on my pigmented lips. The shade Plum Berry is a universally flattering wine shade which looks more fuchsia under white light. I have a feeling that it is a dupe for the Sugar Mettle Liquid Lipstick in the shade Mimosa, which is twice as expensive. So if you like reddish wine shades, I will definitely recommend picking up this one. Since Pink Glam turned out to be patchy, I will recommend sticking with the darker shades if you are planning to pick other colours from the range.
My Final Verdict on the Lotus Ecostay Matte Lip Lacquers
The Lotus Ecostay Matte Lip Lacquers retail for INR 725 each, but are usually available online at a discounted price of around INR 500. I feel that the darker shades from the range will be a great steal for the discounted price. If you are a fan of light-weight, longlasting liquid lipsticks then I will definitely recommend picking up at least one of the deeper shades from the range. I am sure it will not disappoint you!
Shade, packaging , formula n price sabhi bahut accha hai 😍😍
