Lakme has a number of different lipstick formulas in their 9 to 5 range, and I have already spoken about the Lakme 9 to 5 Primer+Matte Lipstick on the blog. Today I will be reviewing one of the other lipstick formulations from the range, which comes in the prettiest packaging in my opinion. I am talking about the Lakme 9 to 5 Natural Matte Sticks, a formula that claims to provide intense pigmentation, a long-lasting matte finish, and protection from pollution with the help of aloe vera and honey. Read on to find out whether this product lives up to its claims.
Did I mention already that I adore the packaging of this lipstick? It is a twist-up crayon with a glossy green to rose gold gradient which pictures cannot do justice to. It is truly a beauty to look at in person. I like the fact that the tip of the crayon is not too chubby, which allows for precise application and lets me line my lips before I fill them in.
The formula is super pigmented and glides on the lips with ease to provide an opaque finish in one stroke. I will call the formula a satin matte because the base of the formula seems completely matte but it does have a slight sheen to it. Also, the shade I have seems to have very tiny shimmer particles running through the pigment, but these are so tiny that they just emanate a sheen without feeling gritty or chunky on the lips. Since the formula is largely matte, it will cling to any texture on your lips, so I will recommend exfoliating them before using the product.
Coming to the shade Fuchsia Alley, it is a beautiful fuchsia shade with a balance of cool and warm undertones. It looks more blue-toned in some lights and more red-toned in others but overall it will flatter most Indian skin tones. I personally like the effect imparted by the micro-shimmer which makes this shade appropriate for a special occasion. In terms of longevity, the formula is not completely transfer-proof but only transfers a little while eating or drinking. However, if you will eat something very oily, it will come off from the center of lips completely but will leave a nice stain behind. I will say that you may have to reapply it after a meal but otherwise it will last you for a good 6 hours. I cannot tell whether it protects my lips from pollution or not but it is definitely not drying and is quite comfortable for how matte it is.
The Lakme 9 to 5 Naturale Matte Sticks are priced at INR 550, but you can usually find them at an even more affordable discounted price online. While I love the shade Fuchsia Alley, the range also has a number of pinks, reds, and browns to choose from, so there is something for everyone. I will recommend picking up at least one shade from the range if you are looking to add a pop of colour to your lipstick collection.
