Ever since Laneige launched in India on Nykaa.com, my feed has been bombarded with tempting images of their products. What intrigued me the most was their lip sleeping mask, something a lot of international bloggers swear by, but the price tag of INR 1150 was a little too much for me to spend on a lip balm (or an upgraded version of it). BUT But But, then I saw a smaller version of the product at INR 500 and I was willing to spend that much to try out the product and curb my curiosity. Read on to find out how this product fared for me!
I was always under the impression that this lip sleeping mask has a thick balmy consistency that will look crusty on the lips, thereby making it suitable only for use at night. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I couldn’t have been more wrong! This lip mask looks like a thick balm in the jar, but when you swirl your finger in it, it melts to a beautiful oily consistency. It glides on the lips with ease and instantly makes them look glossy and juicy. In fact, it can be worn on its own even during the day to provide a nice sheen to the lips.
Before reviewing this product, here is what the brand has to say about this lip mask-
“The Lip Sleeping Mask by Laneige gently melts away dead skin cells from the lips, making the lips feel smooth and elastic. Experience smooth firming lip night care with the new lip sleeping pack. Berry extracts being rich in vitamin C and antioxidants act on dry, rough lips, making them smooth and supple. Laneige’s patented moisture technology puts active ingredients such as hydro ion mineral water, evening primrose root extract, and hunza apricot extract in the dense beta-glucan moisture film (network). It helps skin absorb the ingredients densely into skin during 8 hours of sleep.”
Coming to my experience with this lip mask, I don’t know what Laneige’s patented moisture technology is but it works like magic. It hydrates, heals and softens the lips and makes them plumper and juicier within days. I have been using it every night and while I often experience flakey lips when the weather becomes dry, this product has healed the flakiness and prevented it from reappearing. I also love the bubblegum scent of the lip mask and the pink jar it comes in is very cute! The product is also free of parabens and phthalates and is not tested on animals.
Overall, the only thing about this lip mask which can be counted as a con is its price. You get 8gm of product for INR 500 and 20gm of product at INR 1150. However, now that I have tried this product, I understand why it is so pricey. It is not just a high-end version of a lip balm but is in fact way more superior in its hydrating and healing properties. If you are someone who never experiences extremely dry lips then you don’t necessarily need to spend money on this lip mask, but if you are someone like me who wears a lot of liquid lipsticks or has dry and chapped lips throughout the year then this product can be a game changer for you. I have definitely been converted to a Laneige lover due to this product and the next time, I will happily invest in the bigger jar of this lip mask 🙂
