I have been meaning to try Tamanu Oil ever since Bhumika from makeupandsmiles.com wrote a post about the benefits of this oil as a skincare ingredient. When I spotted that Vaunt, one of my recent favourite skincare brands, had brought out a Tamanu and Cranberry Seed Face Oil, I had to try it out. I have been using this facial oil for several weeks now and here is what I think about this product so far.

The Vaunt Tamanu and Cranberry Seed Facial Oil has been formulated for oily and acne-prone skin. Some of you might be surprised as to how someone with oily skin would benefit from using a facial oil, but even oily skin needs moisture and protection, something which this lightweight facial oil provides. Here is a list of all the ingredients that this facial oil contains:
List of Ingredients
Calophyllum Inophyllum Seed oil (Tamanu Seed), *Vacinnium Macrocarpon Seed Oil ( Cranberry seed), *Argania Spinosa Oil (Argan), Rosa Moschata Seed Oil (Rosehip), *Sugar Squalane , Rosmarinus Officinalis Oil (Rosemary), Oryaza Sativa Oil (Rice Bran), Citrus Sinensis (Sweet Orange) Oil, Nelumbo Nucifera (Lotus Oil), Melaleuca Alternifolia Oil (Tea Tree). Approved Natural Base, *Approved Natural Preservative/ Excipients.

The oil comes in the standard Vaunt packaging – a minimalistic bottle with a dropper. The oil is golden in colour and is not too thick. It spreads quite easily on the skin and you will need only a couple of drops for your face and neck. It sinks into the skin within a minute or two and leaves behind only a slight shine on the face. I use this product under a matte foundation during the day and this oil does not make my makeup look shiny and in fact acts pretty well as a primer. At night I use it as one of my moisturisers because I like layering my skincare during the winters.

Coming to the efficacy of this product, the ingredient list boasts of a number of nourishing oils that are known to have anti-bacterial, anti-oxidising as well as brightening properties. This blend of oils also contains tea tree oil, which works really well at healing and preventing breakouts, and the star ingredient, Tamanu oil, is known to reduce pigmentation too, thereby making this product a perfect cocktail for blemish prone skin.
Ever since I started using this product, I have noticed that I have been breaking out less frequently and the oil is doing a fine job at shrinking any existing pimples as well. It also provides me an extra boost of hydration in this cold and dry weather and is preventing my skin from feeling tight or flakey. Even though reduction in pigmentation and blemishes takes time, I have noticed that my acne scars have become slightly lighter over the course of the past few weeks. My skin also has a nice glow, which is a result of all the skincare products I have been using but this one has definitely contributed to the radiance.

My Verdict on the Vaunt Tamanu and Cranberry Seed Face Oil
Overall, this is an excellent facial oil for those with acne-prone skin. If you have oily skin then I will recommend using it only at night but if you have combination skin and do not live in a very humid area then you can use a drop during the day as well. This oil is priced at INR 599 for a 30ml bottle and will last you a really long time. Vaunt is a cruelty-free and vegan brand and all the products I have tried so far have been extremely impressive and reasonably priced. This face oil was no exception and I highly recommend it to all of the oily-skinned ladies!
