It’s raining sunscreens this year and Aqualogica joined the bandwagon with two new sunscreen variants. And the question I have been receiving is which one is better? The two sunscreens are the Aqualogica Hydrate+ Dewy Sunscreen (Green) and the Aqualogica Glow+ Dewy Sunscreen (Yellow). For the sake of convenience I’m calling them the Green one and the Yellow one in this review.
So, are the Aqualogica Sunscreens good? And which variant is better? Let’s find out!

Aqualogica Hydrate+ vs. Glowy+ Sunscreen : The Formula
Both the Aqualogica sunscreens are hybrid ones, containing mineral and chemical filters. The physical filters are Zinc Oxide and Titanium DIoxide and the chemical filters are Suncat DE. The ingredient list is almost exactly the same, except that the green one contains hydrating coconut water and the yellow one contains brightening papaya extracts. They both offer SPF 50+ and PA+++ protection.
The Finish Of Aqualogica Sunscreen
Both sunscreens have a gel to lotion consistency with a slippery watery feel. They impart a dewy finish to the skin and feel hydrating without being greasy. Although they are almost identical, if I were forced to compare, I would say that the green one seems slightly thicker and the yellow one seems slightly more dewy.

Do The Aqualogica Sunscreens Give A White Cast?
No, the Aqualogica sunscreens do not give a white cast on my skin tone and I have heard the same from those with deeper skin tones. Plus, they do not pill upon application and layer effortlessly on the skin.
Are The Aqualogical Sunscreens Fragrance-Free?
The initial batches of the green sunscreen had a distinct fragrance but the newer batches don’t have it. So both the yellow and green Aqualogica sunscreens are now fragrance-free.
What I Don’t Like About These Sunscreens
Both the Aqualogical sunscreens sting my eyes. They also may not be suitable for humid weather as they are not sweatproof. These are the only two cons of these sunscreens that I can think of.
Aqualogica Sunscreen vs. The Derma Co 1% Hyaluronic Gel Sunscreen
The Aqualogica Sunscreens are often compared to The Derma Co 1% Hyaluronic Gel Sunscreen, a product of their sister brand. However, I feel that the Aqualogica sunscreens are lighter while The Derma Co Suncreen is slightly creamier or thicker. But this is just a small difference and I do not mind using them interchangeably on my oily skin.

Which Aqualogica Sunscreen Is Better?
My favourite is the Yellow one because it feels slightly lighter on my skin. However, the yellow Aqualogica Sunscreen is also more dewy. So you may prefer the Green one if you want a less dewy finish.
Will Aqualogica Sunscreens Suit Oily Skin?
Both the Aqualogica sunscreens are hydrating and non-greasy with a dewy finish. Hence, they should suit all skin types, including oily skin. However, if you do not like a dewy finish because your skin is already oily or if you sweat a lot, you may not like these sunscreens. I personally like them for my oily and acne-prone skin for indoor use. When I am stepping outdoors, I use a powder on top to reduce the dewiness.
