Azelaic Acid is truly a gem of an ingredient for those with acne and blemish-prone skin. Until 2 years back, this ingredient was not readily available and could only be found in pharmacy products like Aziderm. Luckily, the Indian skincare brands listened to my silent prayers, and now many brands have come out with products containing Azelaic Acid. One such brand that I discovered only recently is Dermitecture, and their Azelaic Acid Serum instantly caught my attention when I visited their website.
Dermitecture is an Indian skincare brand that produces thoughtfully formulated products that are barrier-friendly and suitable for all skin types. The brand philosophy truly intrigued me, and I had to try out their 10% Azelaic Acid Serum that claims to tackle acne and hyperpigmenation. After more than 2 months of use, here is my detailed review of this serum.

The Formula
The Dermitecture Azelaic Acid Serum is a water based serum with 10% azelaic acid along with soothing, hydrating and brightening ingredients. I love that the formula contains not just Azelaic Acid but also a mix of other ingredients with additional benefits. These include antioxidants like green tea, soothing centella extracts, brightening licorice, calming oat extracts, and hydrating hyaluronic acid.
In terms of consistency, it is slightly viscous but sinks into the skin quickly without feeling sticky, heavy, or greasy. It feels soothing and hydrating on the face too. Moreover it is fragrance and essential oil free, making it suitable for sensitive skin.
Ingredients – Deionised water, azelaic acid (10%) centella asiatica extract, green tea extract, licorice root extract, propane-1,2-diol, vegetable glycerin, oat beta glucan, soy protein, hyaluronic acid, allantoin, disodium EDTA, citric acid, broad-spectrum preservative

How To Use Dermitecture Azelaic Acid Serum?
I use the Dermitecture Azelaic Acid Serum 4-5 times a week at night. I apply it before my moisturizer on clean, damp skin and do not layer any other active ingredients with it. However, some of my moisturizers do contain a small percentage of Niacinamide and they work fine along with the serum. On the nights that I use BHA or retinol, I skip this serum altogether. According to the brand, you can use the serum in the morning too but I prefer to use it at night.
The 30ml bottle has lasted me for more than 2 months. You can also pick the 10ml bottle if you are new to the ingredient, or the 50ml bottle if you love the product already.

My Experience With The Dermitecture Azelaic Acid Serum
The instant effect of this serum is that it calms and hydrates the skin. After a few days, I could see that my acne was healing faster and shrinking in size quickly. After 3 weeks, I could see a visible reduction in the blemishes left behind by acne. So, this product helps with both acne and blemishes, but you will need to use it for at least a month to see some reduction in stubborn brown spots.
Dermitecture Azelaic Acid Serum vs. Aziderm
Aziderm is a popular prescription cream that a lot of people swear by. However, I find the Dermitecture Azelaic Acid Serum gentler and non-drying whereas Aziderm tends to dry out my skin a bit. Since the serum is a non-prescription one and also contains soothing and hydrating ingredients, I feel that it will suit more people, including beginners. Aziderm works well for oily skin but Dermitecture can work well across all skin types.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I am quite impressed with the Dermitecture Azelaic Acid Serum as it has reduced my acne and blemishes after consistent use. I love the formulation because it also contains antioxidants and soothing ingredients, making it an all-rounder. Also love the fact that the brand offers the product in different sizes so that newbies can pick up smaller bottles to test it out. The price seems a little high but since 30ml lasted me for more than 2 months, I am not complaining. Plus, my coupon code MRINALINI10 will give you a 10% discount as well.
Overall, my oily and acne-prone skin loves this serum and I will be repurchasing it in the future for sure!
