Summer is here and acne issues are at an all time high! Moreover, the pandemic has forced all of us to mask up, and even those with normal skin are having to deal with mask acne or maskne. If the summer heat, humidity, and hours of wearing protective masks is leaving your skin congested, you need to take appropriate measures to prevent and heal acne. Here are some of my tried and tested tips to heal acne faster that can help you out!
1. Best Anti-Acne Face Washes
Excess sebum in your pores leads to bacterial growth which causes acne and inflammation. Cleansing is the most obvious and effective way to remove sebum and bacteria from your skin. A good anti-acne face wash should contain a combination of anti-bacterial and soothing ingredients to prevent and heal acne. My top picks for anti-acne cleansers are the Pure By Priyanka Aloe and Cucumber Face Wash and the Just Herbs Silk Splash Cleanser. The Pure By Priyanka face wash contains acne-fighting Salicylic Acid along with soothing aloe vera and cucumber extracts. The Just Herbs Silk Splash Rehydrant Face Wash contains acne-fighting Neem, Honey and Bitter Orange extracts along with calming calendula and cucumber. Both these face washes are SLS-free and heal acne faster without drying out the skin. Use them twice a day, in your morning and evening skincare routines, for the best results.
2. Best Face Packs For Acne
Using an anti-acne face pack two times a week can shrink any active acne and decongest the pores. Also, face packs will add an instant glow to your skin, which is much needed in summers. If your skin can tolerate clays, I recommend the Forest Essentials Multani Mitti, which is a blend of fuller’s earth with neem, turmeric, and fenugreek. These ingredients suck out dirt and grease from the pores and destroy acne-causing bacteria. However, multani mitti can be drying, and may not be suitable for those with sensitive skin.
If you have sensitive skin or have inflamed pimples on your face, try the BohoHerbs Vegetable Peel Scrub instead. This clay-free product contains rice powder and dried green peas as its key ingredients. It also contains soothing khus khus and rose petals. The formula is rich in natural sources of skin brightening vitamins and also contains sunflower seed powder that prevents excess oil production on the skin. It can be used as a scrub but works equally well as a anti-acne face pack too. Simply mix with rose water and apply a thin layer on your skin, and wash it off with a gentle hand once the pack dries. This face pack will remove excess oil and soothe acne. After each use, you will be greeted by radiant and decongested skin!
3. Best Spot Treatments For Acne
Spot treatments that are packed with anti-acne ingredients can help you shrink acne within a matter of hours. One such spot treatment that I love is the BohoHerbs Clove Cream. This cream has a lightweight, whipped consistency and contains a blend of Ayurvedic herbs to heal acne faster. Some of the key ingredients in this cream are Clove, Mulethi, Nutmeg, and Wild Turmeric, which soothe inflamed acne and shrink them faster too. I like to apply this cream on my pimples at night, and by morning, the pimples shrink in size and are less painful too.
Another product that works really well as a spot treatment for acne is the Shesha Ayurveda Kasturi Manjal. This product contains organic curcumin and curcuma aromatica, species of turmeric with proven skincare benefits. It also contains orange, lemon, and Tulsi extracts to brighten the skin and reduce acne. I mix this powder with curd or water and apply the paste to my pimples for 15 minutes. When I wash it off, my pimples feel less painful and reduce in size too!
So these were some of my tried and tested products to reduce acne. I hope that they will help you keep your skin healthy and acne-free this summer!
