Kay Beauty is an Indian makeup brand founded by Katrina Kaif in partnership with Nykaa. It launched some time last year and the hype around it was real! One of the key USPs of this brand is the inclusive shade range for all Indian skin tones. The brand also promotes the less is more approach, and most of their products help to provide a subtle but polished makeup look. As of now, the brand has a collection of eyeliners, lipsticks, nail paints, and powder products. I picked up a few of their products during the Nykaa Pink Friday Sale, and here are my thoughts on this brand!

Kay By Katrina Nail Nourish Nail Lacquers
The first set of products from the brand that were an absolute hit for me were the Kay By Katrina Nail Lacquers. This is a ramge of 36 gorgeous nail paints in shades ranging from nudes and pastels to pinks and reds. I am personally a fan of nude shades for everyday wear, and this brand has some of the most flattering nude nail paints for Indian skin tones. I also love pastel nail paints that are milky and subtle, and the lilac pastel shade called Angelic has won my heart completely!
These nail paints require 2 coats for full opacity. The first coat goes on a little bubbly, but with the second coat, the polish becomes quite even. They are also quite chip resistant and have survived rounds of Corona induced dish washing at my end. Unless you work a lot with water and detergent, they can easily last on your nails for up to 7 days. The brush is neither too wide, nor too narrow and the classic Kay Beauty print on the lid makes these bottles look so cute! Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about these nail paints, grab them if you are a nail polish lover like me!

Kay Beauty Liquid Eyeliner
Colored eyeliners are all the rage this season, and hues of purple are trending like crazy. This is why I picked up the Kay Beauty Liquid Eyeliner in the shade Haute Violet. This is a very dark purple shade that can easily be mistaken for black from a distance. It is a good shade for those who wish to experiment with color without going too overboard. However, I would have personally preferred a vibrant violet color and hope that the brand comes out with one in the future.
In terms of formula, this eyeliner is quite runny and liquidy and you will need 2 to 3 layers for full opacity. It does not dry down to a matte finish and has a glossy sheen to it. I quite like the thin paintbrush style applicator which allows precise application. It works really well at creating a tiny, thin wing, which is what I like to do on a regular basis. If you are someone who is a beginner at applying eyeliners, then you may need a bit of practice with this applicator as it requires more of a steady hand than a felt tip liner. This eyeliner is slightly water resistant but not waterproof, but it does last on the lids for 8 hours. If you are looking for a vibrant colored liner, I will recommend picking the shade Exotic Indigo from the range.

Kay Beauty Matte Action Lip Liner
Lip liners have truly been a game changer for me recently. They make the lipstick last longer and help me add some fake volume to the lips. The Kay Beauty Matte Action Lip Liner range has a number of flattering nudes for all Indian skin tones as well as some pinks and reds. I picked up the shade High Impact from the range, which is a dusty my lips but better pink for me. I love the formula of this lip liner because it glides on the lips with ease and feels quite creamy despite having a matte finish. The price is a little steep for a lip liner, but if you grab it during a sale then it will be a worthy investment!

Kay Beauty Matteinee Lip Crayon
The last product from Kay by Katrina, which I received as a freebie with my order was the Kay Beauty Matteinee Lip Crayon. I received the shade Style Icon, which is a dark berry shade on my skin tone (NC35). This shade will look phenomenal on deeper skin tones that are NC42 and beyond. Personally, I would have loved to try a lighter shade from the range which would be a nude for me, but as I received this as a freebie, I can’t complain much.
In terms of formula, this lip crayon glides well on the lips and provides a demi matte finish that has a slight sheen under direct light. It is not the most pigmented lip crayon that I have tried and requires two swipes for full opacity. The formula feels quite comfortable on the lips and lasts for several hours unless you eat something oily. It does transfer slightly every time I eat or drink something but fades pretty evenly. Overall, this lip crayon isn’t my absolute favorite in terms of formulation, but I love the shade range that contains a lot of dusty nudes and pinks. It has some really gorgeous shades for Indian skin tones, so if you are looking for flattering nudes for everyday wear, do check this range out. I will personally recommend blotting and blending the lip color for a muted, long-wearing finish.

My Final Verdict On Kay Beauty By Katrina
What I love the most about Kay Beauty By Katrina is that most of their products come in a wide range of shades to suit the whole spectrum of Indian skin tones. You may feel that a number of shades look quite similar, but that is what helps people with different undertones to their skin find their perfect nude shade. I also love the signature packaging of the whole range which makes the products stand out from the rest of my makeup. The price of most of the items is a little high for what they are, but if you pick these up during a sale then you will get value for your money.
