While physical scrubs were all the rage a few years back, people have now moved to chemical scrubs that are less damaging to the skin and more effective too. There was a shift to chemical peels last year, but a lot of people realized that their skin prefers a gentler form of exfoliation. This is where exfoliating toners came into the picture. With a lower concentration of exfoliating acids, these toners are milder, suit a wider range of skin types, and can be used for regular exfoliation without the fear of sensitizing the skin. Today I will be talking about one such acid-based toner that is mild and suitable for multiple skin types. It is the Eclat Superior Glow Tonic. The brand kindly sent me this product and here is my review after testing it out!

The Formula
The Eclat Glow Tonic is an AHA based toner that contains 5% Glycolic Acid and 5% Lactic Acid. Lactic acid is one of the mildest AHAs and glycolic acid is slightly more potent. These AHA’s encourage faster cell renewal by removing dead skin, thereby helping with pigmentation, dullness and uneven skin tone. Since both these acids are present at 5% concentration each, this toner can be used multiple times a week without it being too harsh on the skin. It also contains Witch Hazel that is excellent for tightening pores, along with natural antioxidants and brightening agents such as Red Ginseng, Rosehip Oil and Hibiscus Oil. Not only do these ingredients help with hyperpigmentation, the oils also help to moisturize the skin to some extent. The toner also contains soothing ingredients such as Rose water and Aloe Vera that help to calm the skin.
Fragrance is not mentioned on the list but the product has a very mild scent that does not irritate my skin or nose. The toner is alcohol-free and pH balanced too. My at-home pH test revealed a pH of around 6, which is close to the natural pH of the skin. This means that the product should not damage your skin’s barrier.

How To Use The Eclat Glow Tonic
On the packaging, it is mentioned that the Eclat Glow Tonic can be used both during the night and day and can be used daily. However, the team recommended me to use it 2-3 times a week at night, which is what I have been following. I apply this toner on my clean, dry skin with a cotton pad and follow up with a moisturizer. I always wear a sunscreen during the day and it is even more essential when you use a chemical exfoliator at night. Even though this toner is quite mild, I will urge you to perform a patch test before using it for the first time.

My Experience With The Eclat Glow Tonic
I have used the Eclat Glow Tonic 3 times a week for around 3 weeks at the time of writing this review. Every time I use this toner, I can feel my pores tighten, and what is great is that I do not experience any tingling sensation on my skin. Also, this is the most cooling and soothing glycolic acid toner that I have tried so far. Some acid-based toners can feel a little drying on my skin, but this one feels quite hydrating. I think that the presence of the oils and aloe in the formula make this difference.
Since this is a milder exfoliant, you will have to be patient with the results. It will take a few weeks before you notices a reduction in pigmentation, uneven skin tone or blemishes. After more than 2 weeks of use, I can see that my skin feels soft and smooth, and the congested pores around my nose have cleared up.
Overall, I feel that this toner is perfect for those who are new to chemical exfoliation and also for those who want to use a mild exfoliator on a regular basis. The spray packaging and the sturdy bottle make it convenient to use as well. I must admit that the price point of INR 1400 is a little steep, but this is truly a great investment for those whose skin doesn’t react well to stronger acids.
