Have you ever suffered from extreme frizziness in your hair? Do you blow dry or heat style your hair on a regular basis? Do you crave for silkier, shinier hair? I am sure that your answer would have been a resounding yes to at least one of these questions. Today’s post is about a fantastic hair products that tackles a bunch of hair woes that we Indian gals commonly struggle with. This product is the Loreal Extraordinary Oil Serum, a hair serum that is receiving tons of hype. Today I will take you through my experience with the product and will share my tips on how to use it!

What It Does
The Loreal Extraordinary Oil Serum is a blend of a number of nourishing oils and floral extracts. Here are some of the claims of this product.
- Reduces frizz
- Provides heat protection upto 230 C
- Adds shine
- Softens and smoothens the hair
Apart from the nourishing oils, the product also contains Dimethiconol. This ingredient is similar to dimethicone and provides a smoother appearance to the hair while protecting it from the heat. It is not harmful for the hair per se, but if you use too much of it then you may need a clarifying shampoo to get rid of the residue it deposits on the hair. Personally, I feel that using the serum once or twice a week is not going to lead to extreme product buildup.
The serum also contains perfume, but it is the last ingredient on the list. I find the smell of the serum quite pleasant and calming. It is slightly floral/herbal and does not feel sickening sweet.

How To Use The Loreal Extraordinary Oil Serum
The brand claims that the product can be used as a pre-shampoo treatment, a post-shampoo serum, as well as a heat protectant. I personally like to use the product on my wet hair to detangle them and to protect them during blow drying. I use one pump of the serum on the lengths of my hair when they are still damp and apply any residue that is left on my fingers closer to the roots. Then I detangle my hair with a Wet Brush and blow dry them. After blow drying, I apply half a pump of the product to the ends of my hair to make them sleeker and shinier. I sometimes use a tiny bit of the product to tame my flyaways on day 2.

What I Like About The Loreal Oil Serum
The first thing I love the most about the Loreal Paris Extraordinary Oil Serum is how lightweight it is. I have very fine and frizzy hair. This means that they need a good serum to get rid of the frizz, but most oil-based serums tend to weigh my hair down. Also, even if I apply any serum to only the lengths of my hair, somehow it ends up making my roots look greasy too after a day. However, the Loreal Paris Extraordinary Oil Serum is so lightweight that it does not weigh down my hair at all! It detangles my hair really well too, which is otherwise a struggle for me since my hair has grown pretty long in the lockdown and I don’t want to go to a salon right now.
Last but not the least, the serum adds a gorgeous shine to my hair, and I can even use it near my roots without worrying about greasiness! Plus the luxurious glass bottle is a spectacular addition to my vanity. Basically, this hair serum is all you can ask from a hair product and more! I personally feel that the price of INR 499 is justified considering the quantity, quality and packaging of the product. I will just go ahead and say that it is the best hair serum that I have ever tried! So, if you have a similar hair type to mine, I am sure you will enjoy this product too 🙂

Hey! I do not see the packaging mentioning it can be used a heat protectant. It does say Before drying, but not sure if a straightener is still as good. Just saying.
Ps- love the name of the site!
Hi, the product description on Nykaa mentions that it can be used as a heat protectant (https://www.nykaa.com/l-oreal-paris-elseve-extraordinary-oil-serum/p/1133168?)
. This was also communicated to me by the brand 🙂
