The Lakme Forever Matte Liquid Lip Colour range is the most affordable liquid lipstick range from Lakme. It was launched a few months back and received a lot of praise from fellow beauty bloggers. I have been hearing good things about the range ever since it launched but somehow never got around to trying it due to the lockdown. I finally got hold of one shade from the range in a PR box, and here are my thoughts on the formulation!

The Packaging
The Lakme Forever Matte Liquid Lip Colours come in a longish colour-coded plastic tube with a black lid and a doe-foot wand. The packaging is quite light-weight and does not feel luxe, but for the price point, I am not complaining at all! The doe foot applicator is also pretty basic but gets the job done and works pretty well with the liquidy formula of the lipstick. I also appreciate how you can easily identify the shade by looking at the tube. Overall, I am quite fine with the packaging of the product.

The Formula
The Lakme Forever Matte Liquid Lipsticks have quite a runny and thin formula. The pigmentation is fairly decent and you get opaque pigmentation and an “almost but not fully flat” matte finish in two swipes. However, if you have pigmented lips then the colour of your lips may peek through a bit even after applying two coats of the lipstick. The formula feels a little sticky on the lips and you will feel some tackiness every time you purse your lips together. It doesn’t feel heavy or drying on the lips.
The formula is transfer-resistant when dry but isn’t transferproof. You can have some dry snacks or a drink without the lipstick transferring much but the moment your lips get wet or oily, the lipstick will transfer quite a bit. Without eating a heavy meal, it will easily stay on your lips for a good 5 hours.
Lakme Forever Matte vs Lakme Matte Melt Liquid Lip Colour
An obvious question that comes to mind is how do the Lakme Forever Matte Liquid Lip Colours compare against their costlier cousin, Lakme Matte Melt Liquid Lip Colour. The answer is that the Lakme Forever Matte Lip Colours are more sticky and slightly less pigmented than the Lakme Matte Melt Lip Colours. The Matte Melt Lipsticks give full opacity and a flat matte finish in two to three swipes whereas the Forever Matte Liquid Lipsticks remain a tad bit sheerer. The Matte Melt Liquid Lipsticks also feel more light-weight on the lips.

The Shade Range
The Lakme Forever Matte Liquid Lip Colour is currently available in 30 shades, largely comprising of reds, pinks and mauves. I would love to see the addition of more brown and caramel nudes to the range in the future. The current shade range will look quite flattering on a range of Indian skin tones, which is commendable.
In frame today is the shade Red Carpet which is a bright cool toned blue that will instantly elevate any Indian or Western look.

My Verdict On the Lakme Forever Matte Liquid Lip Colour
Priced at a very affordable INR 295, the Lakme Forever Matte Liquid Lip Colours are a steal for the quality of the formula. If you do not mind a slight tackiness to your lips then you will love these for their pigmentation and non-drying formula. They last fairly well unless you have a full-blown meal and are excellent for college students or working women who want a variety of shades on a budget. For the price, comfort and pigmentation, these lipsticks get 4.5 stars from me 🙂
