Can we officially christen 2020 as the year of sanitizers and hand creams? The mantra of my life this year has been sanitize, moisturize, repeat. I am sure a lot of you will resonate with this emotion. While the luxurious and rich hand creams are an absolute delight to use, they may not be the most practical choice for our pockets considering how quickly we are going through hand creams this year. This is why I recently picked up a super affordable hand cream to test, the Vaseline Intensive Hand Cream. This hand cream claims to provide healthy hands and stronger nails. Read on to find out if this cream lived up to its claims!

The Packaging
The Vaseline Intensive Care Hand Cream comes in a compact tube packaging that is handbag friendly and leakproof. The design of the tube is not the most aesthetically pleasing or luxurious but the packaging is pretty functional. It is priced at INR 249 for a 50gm tube, and I find it pretty affordable for what it is. At this price, I am not complaining about the visual aspects of the packaging.

The Formula
The Vaseline Intensive Care Hand Cream feels more like a hand lotion than a cream. It has a lotion consistency that spreads easily on the skin and gets absorbed pretty quickly without leaving behind any greasiness or stickiness. It does not feel as rich on the skin as the thicker hand creams that I am used to but still manages to hydrate the skin. The formula contains a combination of Vaseline petroleum gel and Keratin, and some of the key hydrating ingredients include stearic acid and glycerin. The formula has a fragrance that somehow reminds me of the herbal gulal that we get during Holi. I am sure people will have mixed feelings about the scent.
Ingredients – Water, Mineral Oil, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Glycerin, Glycol Stearate and Stearamide AMP, Triethanolamine, Glyceryl Stearate, Petrolatum, Cetyl Alcohol, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Perfume, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool

The Efficacy of the Vaseline Intensive Care Hand Cream
The Vaseline Intensive Care Hand Cream is definitely not as moisturizing as the rich hand creams that I am used to. It is essentially like a body lotion but without the slippery feeling on the skin. It will alleviate minor dryness but will not work for extremely parched skin. The hand cream also claims to strengthen the nails, and I have noticed lesser chipping of my nails ever since I started using this cream. My nails usually chip from the top after washing utensils or clothes but this is not happening anymore. Therefore, I do like using the Vaseline Intensive Hand Cream for everyday use because it is light, affordable and prevents chipping of nails. However, those who like a super-rich hand cream should give this one a skip.
