My hair is the most temperamental and stubborn part of my body, which is why whenever I find a haircare routine that works for me, I stick to it religiously for months! I am happy to announce that I recently discovered a new set of haircare products that turn my dry, frizzy hair into smooth, picture-perfect tresses! These products are all from the Herb Island Haircare range, and are free from SLS, SLES, and a whole lot of harsh chemicals. They are also vegetarian and cruelty-free! So without further ado, here is an overview of the products from the Herb Island haircare range that I absolutely adore 🙂

The trio of products from Herb Island Haircare that has been working wonders for my hair and scalp recently comprises of the Herb Island Ayurvedic Therapy Oil and the Herb Island Forest Berries Shampoo and Conditioner. Let us look at each of these products in detail now.

Herb Island Ayurvedic Therapy Oil
The Herb Island Ayurvedic Therapy Oil is a blend of 5 oils and 12 essential herbs that are boiled together as per Ayurveda’s Kshir Pak Vidhi, to maximise the potency and efficacy of the oil. This hair oil is formulated to tackle dandruff, itchiness of the scalp, hairfall, and dry/frizzy hair. It has a bunch of fresh herbs swimming in the golden liquid that look enchanting while adding to the benefits of this oil.
List of Ingredients
Coconut Oil, Sesame Oil, Rice bran Oil, Olive Oil, Castor Oil, Chrysopogon zizanioides Ext., Indian Gooseberry Ext., Bacopa monnieri ext., Eclipta prostrata ext., Acacia concinna ext., Lawsonia inermis ext., Cyperus scariosus ext., Nardostachys jatamansi ext., Convolvulus pluricaulis ext., Abrus precatorius ext.
The brand recommends leaving this oil overnight on the hair and scalp and washing it off in the morning for maximum benefits. I personally use this oil only on my scalp and leave it on for an hour before shampooing. The oil has a very light-weight consistency and does not feel heavy or greasy on the scalp. It also has a very mild and almost sweet scent which won’t bother those with a sensitive nose. The oil washes off easily with the Herb Island Forest Berries Shampoo, and leaves my scalp feeling hydrated and healthy. I do not have much dandruff but am prone to itchiness, and this oil leaves my scalp completely itch-free! I even use a couple of drops of this oil to tame my blow dried hair if they get too frizzy, and it does a fine job at it!
Overall, the Herb Island Ayurvedic Therapy Oil is a lovely, light-weight oil that should suit most scalp and hair types. It is priced at INR 499 for a 200ml bottle and at INR 299 for a 100ml bottle. Moreover, you can get an additional 20% off by using my coupon code MRI20.

Herb Island Forest Berries Shampoo
Enriched with the goodness of Mulberries, gooseberries, bearbearries, grape seed oil and aloe vera, the Herb Island Forest Berries Shampoo claims to build hair collagen, improve hair strength and encourage hair growth. While these may seem like some tall claims, this shampoo has truly managed to make my hair healthier and smoother within a few washes. The product is rich in Vitamin C from all the berries that it contains, and also has Wheatgerm oil which is rich in Vitamins B1, B3 and B6, which works really well with my hair type to strengthen the hair and encourage regrowth.
List of Ingredients
Morus (Mulberry) Ext., Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (Bearberry) Ext., Phyllanthus emblica (Indian Gooseberry) Ext, Vitis vinifera (Grapeseed) Ext., Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Soya Protein, Triticum vulgare (Wheat Germ) Oil, Aqua, Sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, Caprylyl/capryl Glucoside, Cocoaminopropyl Betaine, Glycerine, PEG 6000 Di Sterate, Cocomonoethanolamide, Polyquartenium -10, Sodium Gluconate, Ethelyne Glycol Monosterate, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance
The shampoo has a gel-like consistency and produces a generous lather. It smells like blackcurrent crush to me and a mild scent of blackcurrent lingers on my hair for 1-2 days after using this product. The shampoo cleanses the hair and scalp really thoroughly but does not dry out my fine hair. It also does not leave them feeling rough like some shampoos with SLS tend to do. In fact, it leaves each strand of my hair looking much healthier than it used to look before I started using this shampoo. It also lifts my hair at the root and gives some much-needed volume to my otherwise limp hair. I always use this shampoo in conjunction with the Forest Berries Conditioner, so I will recommend picking both of these together to get smooth, soft and healthy looking hair.
This shampoo is also very affordable and is priced at INR 375 for a 200ml bottle that comes with a convenient pump. You can get an additional 20% off by using my coupon code MRI20!

Herb Island Forest Berries Conditioner
The Herb Island Forest Berries Conditioner is the perfect accompaniment to the Forest Berries Shampoo and both these products work really well when paired together. I am usually a hair mask person because my hair is on the dryer end of the spectrum, and was worried that this conditioner would not be nourishing enough for me. However, I was pleasantly surprised that this conditioner managed to soften and detangle my hair pretty well even though I left it on my hair for 3-4 minutes only. It also somehow manages to leave my hair almost completely straight (without blow drying), which is a plus for me as I don’t have to heat style my hair when I use this shampoo and conditioner.
List of Ingredients
Morus (Mulberry) Ext., Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (Bearberry) Ext., Phyllanthus emblica (Indian Gooseberry) Ext, Vitis vinifera (Grapeseed) Ext., Pea Protein, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Olea europaea (Olive) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Triticum vulgare (Wheat Germ) Oil, Hydrolised Soya Protein, Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Aqua, Ceto steryl alcohol, Glycerine, Glyceryl Mono Stearate, Isopropyl Myristate, Emulsifying Wax, PEG 150 Stearate, Behentrimonium Chloride, Sodium Gluconate, Sodium Lactate, Cetrimonium Chloride, Ceterath 21, Polyquartenium 10, Phenoxyethanol, Guar Hydroxypropyl Triammonium Chloride, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Fragrance
In terms of texture, this conditioner has a soft creamy consistency and spreads easily on the hair without feeling too slippery. The ingredient list is full of the vitamin sources and berries, similar to the shampoo, along with shea butter, olive oil and pea protein. I do not see any silicones on the list either. The product smells like mixed berry juice, which I actually enjoy. This conditioner works really well at smoothening the hair without giving it the slippery feel that silicone based conditioners tend to do. It will not deep condition your hair like a hair mask, but will work really well as an everyday conditioner. Like I mentioned before, it leaves my hair straight with just air drying, so I am definitely going to be repurchasing multiple bottles for sure.
The Herb Island Forest Berries Conditioner is priced at INR 375 for a 200ml bottle with a convenient pump. You can get an additional 20% off using my coupon code MRI20.
In all honesty, the Herb Island Haircare range, and particularly the Forest Berries Shampoo and Conditioner are worth every buck you will spend on them. If you have dry and frizzy hair then do pick up these pocket-friendly products, you will thank me later!
