Essence Cosmetics is a brand that is known for its great mascaras and eyeliners that are available at really affordable prices. The only downside is that its products are usually out of stock on Indian shopping websites. Luckily, a bunch of their products came back in stock on Flipkart right before the Corona quarantine, and I got the chance to pick up a few of their items. Here is my review of the Essence Eyeliner Pen in the shade 03 Brown.
The Packaging
The Essence Cosmetics Eyeliner Pen comes in the form of a pen with a felt tip applicator. The packaging is pretty sleek and is colour coded as per the shade of the eyeliner that you pick. The felt tip applicator is not thin or flimsy and is pretty sturdy and of medium thickness as compared to other felt tip applicators that I have tried. The cap fits tightly on the pen which is a very important factor for me since eyeliners of this kind tend to dry out pretty fast if left exposed to any amount of air. Overall, the packaging is quite decent for the price.
The Formula
The formula of the Essence Eyeliner Pen is quite pigmented and dries down to a completely matte finish. Essence offers a number of formulas in their eyeliners, and this one is from the Longlasting range. It stays put on the eyes all day long but is not waterproof and gets removed completely with water. I also feel that the combination of the matte formula and the stiff felt tip applicator makes one have to apply the liner in multiple strokes, which means that the boundary of the eyeliner looks a little jagged unless you take time to go over it and smoothen it.
Essentially, all I am trying to say is that you cannot apply this liner in one sweeping motion all over you lashline, you will need 2-3 strokes to perfect the liner, which is a little annoying. It dries up quickly on the eyelid and also on the felt tip, so you have to keep shaking the pen to get more product on the applicator.
The shade 03 Brown is a dark chocolate brown that will look quite flattering on Indian skin tones and will give a softer look than a pure black. You can check the swatch above for an exact shade reference where I have swatched this brown eyeliner in comparison to a pure black eyeliner.
My Verdict on the Essence Eyeliner Pen
Other than the fact that the application is not 100% smooth, I like everything else about the Essence Eyeliner Pen. The shade Brown is beautiful and the flat matte finish is what I live for. As long as you have the time to perfect the edges of the liner, you will love this one for sure. Also, you can’t really go wrong with the price point of around INR 200, right? Let me know if you have tried this product and what you think of it.
I’m actually looking for a brown liner for my lighter makeup days, I need to try this
Accha to laga 👍👍 affordable bhi hai
