If there is one product you must be seeing everywhere these days, it has to be the Loreal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro-Essence. I do not blame you if you have been curious regarding this product because not only does it look super luxe, it claims to provide tons of benefits to the skin. If you are still wondering whether this product is the right choice for your skin or not, today I will be dissecting each aspect of the product for you. Read on to find out what I think about the newest essence on the block!
The Packaging
The Loreal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro-essence comes in a gorgeous translucent glass packaging with a silver lid. The bottle is quite heavy and looks extremely luxurious and high-end. It is definitely something you would like to display on your vanity and not hide inside a cupboard. The lid is of the screw-on kind and there is a regular hole-based dispenser, which I feel could have been upgraded to a pump for it to be more user-friendly. Since the bottle is a little heavy, it is not the most travel-friendly, but it is leakproof, which is always a plus in my book.
The Ingredients
I received the Loreal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro-essence in a PR box that did not have the full list of ingredients listed on it, however, I’m not sure whether the regular packaging provides the list of ingredients on the box. I did find the full list of ingredients on Nykaa.com, and here it is:
Aqua/ Water, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, Hydroxyethylpiperazine Ethane Sulfonic Acid, Propanediol, Ppg-6-Decyltetradeceth-30, Caprylyl Glycol, Salicylic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, P-Anisic Acid, Adenosine, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, Acetyl Trifluoromethylphenyl Valylglycine, Disodium Edta, Parfum/ Fragrance, Madecassoside, Benzyl Salicylate, Limonene, Linalool, Benzyl Alcohol, Pentylene Glycol, Faex Extract/ Yeast Extract, Tocopherol (F.I.L B230141/1)
The star ingredient of this micro-essence as per the brand is Salicylic Acid, which is among the top 10 ingredients. Salicylic acid is known to gently exfoliate the skin to remove dead skins and dullness, so as to brighten the skin with regular use. Needless to say, this essence did manage to brighten my skin within just one week of use. However, what is troubling for me is the strong perfumy scent of this essence which is bound to irritate those with sensitive skin. In fact, the concentration of perfume is higher than that of Centella Asiatica extracts (Madecassoside) while Centella extracts are advertised as one of the star ingredients of the formula. The ingredient list also features alcohol as the third ingredient, which can be a matter of concern for those with dry or sensitive skin.
My Experience with the Loreal Parise Revitalift Crystal Micro-Essence
The Loreal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro-Essence comes in a liquidy formula that gets absorbed into the skin quickly and feels quite hydrating when patted into the skin before a cream based moisturiser. It also feels cooling on my face and seems to tighten my pores a bit. The pH of this product as tested at my end is around 6, which is good as it won’t disrupt the protective acidic mantle of the skin. It does brighten the skin with regular use, as I mentioned before, but the strong fragrance seemed to irritate my skin a bit and gave me a couple of bumps. I would have much preferred this product had it been fragrance-free or had a milder fragrance. Also, would have loved to have seen Centella Asiatica higher up on the ingredient list, as that would make this essence more suitable for sensitive skin.
My Final Verdict on the Loreal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro-essence
If you are someone whose skin is not sensitive to fragrance or alcohol then you may like the brightening benefits of the Loreal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro-essence. However, I feel that there are more “sensitive skin friendly” essences available in the market that contain similar ingredients sans the irritants in this one. If you have used this essence and love it then that is amazing, but it is not one of my favourites and I wouldn’t recommend it to you if you have sensitive skin. If you do want to buy this product and try it for yourself then I will recommend you to perform a patch test before you apply it all over your face.
