Raise your hand if you are a bit of a lip balm snob and wouldn’t make do with just any lip balm formulation. I certainly am, and need my lip balms to provide nourishment for hours without feeling heavy or cakey on the lips. The recent addition to my lip balm stash is the Juicy Chemistry Blood Orange and Rosehip Lip Balm, which has been love from the first use for me. Read on to find out all my thoughts on this product.
The Formula
The Juicy Chemistry Blood Orange and Rosehip Lip Balm is targeted for pigmented lips, and contains rosehip oil as one of its star ingredients, which is known to work well on pigmentation. It also contains a bunch of other nourishing oils such as Apricot Kernel Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Blood Orange Oil, and Cocoa Butter. Juicy Chemistry is an Ecocert certified organic brand and 98.88% of the ingredients of this lip balm are obtained from organic farming. The lip balm I received contains beeswax, so it is vegetarian and not vegan, but the brand has recently turned completely vegan and have switched to a vegan wax instead of beeswax in their recent batch of products. This lip balm is cruelty-free, and does not contain any Sulfates or synthetic fragrance. The product smells and tastes just like bitter-sweet orange peel.
The Consistency
The formula comes in a convenient twist up tube but behaves like a lip oil upon application. The product melts into an oil as soon as it comes in contact with the lips and glides beautifully without feeling thick or crusty on chapped lips. It has a slight golden tint to it and adds a beautiful shine to the lips. I feel that you would need to store this lip balm in a cool spot as it may melt under direct sunlight or in hot weather. If you wear it underneath your lipstick then it will make your lipstick slide around a bit and will convert a matte formula to a satin formula. If you do not want this to happen then I will recommend blotting your lips after leaving this lip balm on for at least 15 minutes, right before applying your lipstick. At night you can leave it on while going to bed to wake up to soft and moisturised lips in the morning.
My Final Verdict On The Juicy Chemistry Blood Orange and Rosehip Lip Balm
If you are a fan of lip oils, you will love the Juicy Chemistry Blood Orange and Rosehip Lip Balm. I absolutely adore how nourishing it is and how easily it glides on the lips without exaggerating any texture, and also enjoy the taste and scent of oranges, but if you are not a fan of orange peel then you may not like this aspect. I feel that this lip balm is an excellent night treatment for those who have crusty and dry lips and do not like the feel of thick lip balms, and the organic ingredients are the cherry on top. It will help with pigmentation on the lips caused by lifestyle and dietary issues if used regularly, but if you have genetically pigmented lips then chances are that it won’t reduce the pigmentation. The convenient and compact packaging is also a plus, because some of the other lip balms that I love are bulkier and not handbag friendly.
The only downside of the product is its price, which is INR 375 for 5gm of product, but I am honestly willing to pay this price for how good this lip balm feels on my lips. If it does not suit your budget then I will recommend stocking up on it during the sale season. Overall, the Juicy Chemistry Blood Orange and Rosehip Lip Balm gets a big thumbs up from me and I am hyped to try more products from the brand. Let me know if you want me to review any particular products from Juicy Chemistry and I will add them to my list.
