The Lakme Absolute Matte Revolution Lipsticks are one of the recent launches from the brand, and I had been eyeing them ever since the range was announced on social media. I was fortunate enough to receive one of the shades from the range in a PR box recently, and began testing it out immediately. Here is what I think of the shade Coral Pink from this range, as well as my review of the formula of these lipsticks.
What I like about the Lakme Absolute Matte Revolution Lipsticks
Let us start with the packaging – I like the fact that the lid of the lipstick is transparent from the top, which allows me to easily identify the shade when all my lipsticks are stacked together. I also love the shape of this bullet which thins out at the top, allowing me to line my lips precisely, which is usually difficult with bullet lipsticks in darker shades. Coming to the formula, I like that it is extremely matte, as advertised, but does not drag on the lips. In fact, it glides on the lips like a creamy lipstick but has a matte finish. A couple of swipes are needed for fully opaque pigmentation.
What I don’t like about the Lakme Absolute Matte Revolution Lipsticks.
Coming to the cons of this lipstick, at the price of INR 800, I was hoping for more luxurious packaging. I wish that they had gone for a metallic, sturdier packaging as opposed to the black plastic packaging of the lipstick. Regarding the formula, you have to make sure to scrub and prime your lips really well before applying this lipstick because it will cling to any texture on your lips and will exaggerate it. Other than that, I do not see any con to these lipsticks.
The shade Coral Pink – Pigmentation and Longevity
The shade Coral Pink is a deep coral with pink undertones, which looks more like a pinkish red under artificial white light and more of a bright coral with pink undertones under sunlight. I have swatched this shade on my lips in a recent Instagram post, click here to see how it looks on my lips. This particular shade becomes fully opaque in a couple of swipes, but if you have really pigmented lips then some of your pigmentation will peek through. The colour does last on the lips for several hours but is not fully transferproof and will fade every time you eat or drink something. It leaves behind a pink stain on the lips that does not budge until it is removed with an oil or a heavy-duty makeup remover.
My final verdict on the Lakme Absolute Matte Revolution Lipsticks
Overall, I feel that the Lakme Absolute Matte Revolution Lipsticks have a decent formula, but there are better matte lipsticks out there that do not exaggerate the texture of the lips as much. If you really like a particular shade from the range and do not mind prepping and priming your lips every day then I will recommend picking these up during sale season. I will surely try to get my hands on more shades from the range, just to check if some shades perform differently than the others. Let me know in the comments below if you would like to review any shades in particular.
