I always believed that the Real Techniques Buffing Brush was the best affordable foundation brush in the market until my favourite homegrown brush brand, WiseShe, decided to launch their Pro Base Makeup Brush. The brand was kind enough to send me this brush to test out, and today I am penning down everything that I love about this foundation brush.
I have always preferred foundation brushes over sponges because they provide a fuller coverage with lesser product, are easier to clean, and last for years, as opposed to sponges that should be thrown out every 6 months or so to keep things hygienic. This is why I was thrilled that WiseShe was finally launching a foundation brush because I knew that it will be of top-notch quality. However, this brush turned out to be even better than I had imagined and I feel that it can even convert someone who prefers sponges over brushes. The reason I say this is because most people who prefer sponges do so because a sponge provides a non-streaky, natural-looking coverage without much effort. The bristles of the WiseShe Pro Base Makeup Brush are so densely packed that they mimic the streak-free application of a sponge and you have to dab and use small strokes with this brush to get an even coverage effortlessly.
The only issue that I have with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush is that with thicker foundations the application can be a little streaky if I do not blend carefully, but I do not experience this issue with the WiseShe brush. Since the bristles are tightly packed, they also do not absorb too much product, and I also love how soft they feel on the face. Also, the brush is slightly angled, which helps in reaching the crevices around the nose better. You can easily multi-task with this one brush for all your creamy base products including blush and contour. You can see what I mean by effortless blending in this demo video of the brush that I posted on Instagram.
Another great thing about this brush is how well-constructed it is. It is heavy to hold and has a beautiful rose gold and black combination of colours that spell luxury. I have already washed it a couple of times and it does not shed any bristles while being washed. It also comes with a brush guard which prevents the bristles from fraying during storage and I am so happy that the brand included this with the brush because brush guards can be quite expensive if bought separately. Also commendable is that the bristles are synthetic, and thr product is 100% vegan and cruelty-free. Priced at INR 1200 and currently available at INR 999, this brush delivers high-end quality at drugstore prices and I will highly recommend that you invest in it because it will last you for years. A good quality foundation brush is what ensures that your makeup looks flawless every single day, and is the most important makeup tool to have in my opinion. Take my word for it and buy the WiseShe Pro Base Makeup Brush if you are looking for a good foundation brush, I promise you that you won’t regret it 🙂
