It is a thrilling feeling to know that your work is being recognised across the borders too, and thrill is precisely what I felt when I was contacted by Barulab, a Korean skincare brand, to try out a few of their products. The brand kindly sent me their 7 in 1 Total Solution Black Clay Mask, the 7 in 1 Total Solution Blue Aqua Mask, and the 530 S-Peptide Ampoules to try out. As always, here is my honest review of all these products.
Barulab 7 in 1 Total Solution Black Clay Mask
My favourite product out of the trio has to be the 7 in 1 Total Solution Black Clay Mask. This mask is quite unique in the sense that it looks like a sheet mask but is actually a purifying peel-off mask. The mask has two pieces to fit the upper and lower halves of the face in a snug manner which I like because I have a tiny face and most sheet masks are too big for me. Also, instead of a clear essence, this sheet mask comes covered in a greyish clay like cream. It contains French clay, charcoal and volcanic ash to suck out the dirt from the pores along with actives such as Panthenol to hydrate, Niacinamide to even out the skin tone, and Adenosine to increase the skin’s elasticity. Hence, this mask claims to provide 7 benefits to the skin that include cleansing the pores and tightening the skin while nourishing it.
You are supposed to apply this mask on your cleansed face after toning and leave it on for 30-40 minutes. In this window of time, the mask dries down on the skin and the greyish cream turns lighter in colour and starts to look like dry clay. At this point, you need to gently peel the mask off your face, which is not painful like most cream-based peel off masks that I have used, and then rinse your face with warm water. This one does tug at the skin, but only ever so slightly, and leaves behind visibly brighter skin and I could literally see that my pores had been cleared and all the grease and dirt had been sucked out of my face. This is honestly one of the best pore cleansing masks that I have ever used and definitely the best in the peel off masks category. I am going to stock up on this one for my oily and acne-prone skin for sure. (Priced at 33 USD for a pack of 5 masks)
Barulab 7 in 1 Total Solution Blue Aqua Mask
The second product that I am going to talk about is the Barulab 7 in 1 Total Solution Blue Aqua Mask which is more of a traditional sheet mask targeted for dry and sensitive skin. This sheet mask comes drenched in an essence that contains hydrating ingredients such as Panthenol, Glycerin, and Hyaluronic Acid complex. It also contains Japonica Root extract as one of its star ingredients, which is known to be an anti-inflammatory ingredient that helps to soothe and brighten the skin.
The mask is white in colour like your standard sheet mask but comes covered with a blue plastic sheet. You need to peel of that sheet and place the mask on your cleansed and toned face for 15-20 minutes. This mask comes in one piece instead of two, and fits a little less snugly on my face. It instantly offers a cooling and soothing sensation to my skin upon application without any tingling or irritation at all. After 15 minutes, this sheet mask leaves my face plump and hydrated and calms down any active acne on my skin too. It leaves my face hydrated till the next morning and I do not need to go in with a night cream above it. I must admit though that this sheet mask did not leave my skin looking as radiant as some of the other sheet masks have in the past. However, it does provide a powerful boost of hydration, and I therefore recommend it to all those with dry skin. Priced at 33 USD for a pack of 10 masks.
Barulab 530 S-Peptide Ampoules
Last but not the least, the Barulab 530 S-Peptide Ampoules are single-use serum ampoules that pack a punch of hydration and claim to improve the elasticity of the skin. This serum contains unique ingredients such as Sacran, which has even better moisture bearing capacities than Hyaluronic acid, and S-Peptide, which helps with collagen synthesis and skin regeneration.
I only received two ampoules of this serum but they were sufficient for me to determine that this product is incredibly hydrating and leaves the skin plump, which in turn can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles with regular usage. One ampoule contains more than enough product for the face and neck and the serum is slightly tacky, and can therefore serve as a primer for makeup as well. The formula is super gentle on the skin and should suit all skin types, including those with extremely dry and sensitive skin. It will work well with oily skin as well because it is a gel based serum that does not cause any greasiness. I will recommend this for dry and mature/ageing skin. Priced at 31 USD for a pack of 30 ampoules.
Overall, I was quite impressed by the quality of all the products and found the 7 in 1 Total Solution Black Clay Mask particularly suitable for my skin type. The brand has tried to cater to different skin concerns with its range of products and the ingredients are carefully selected accordingly. You can buy these products from a number of K-beauty pages that ship to India, I have personally used and recommend StyleKorean.com. Have you tried anything from Barulab yet?
