The Ordinary is a skincare brand that seldom disappoints, although getting it shipped to India can be a little difficult. Regardless of this, I am slowly building my collection of The Ordinary products, and the product I have been testing out recently is their Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG – an under-eye serum that many people swear by. Read on to see before and after pictures of my under eyes after using this product for 6 weeks along with my detailed review and tips on how to buy this product if you are located in India.
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution contains a high (5%) concentration of caffeine combined with Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside (EGCG) from green tea leaves, two ingredients that have been found to help with pigmentation and puffiness under the eyes. You can check the brand’s website for the details of this formulation because The Ordinary describes the thought process behind the recipe of each product in detail. The product is a serum with a gel-like liquidy consistency and a golden brown colour. The dropper dispenses this product one globule at a time and each globule bursts when touched to provide enough serum for both the eyes. I will urge you to use only one drop of the product for both the eyes because too much product will not only lead to wastage but will also make your skin feel too tight.
When I use one drop of the product under the eyes, the product provides me ample hydration and I feel a slight tightening sensation on my skin. I have been using this product in the morning and evening for more than 6 weeks now and have missed using this only a couple of times. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting any visible difference in my under eye area before 2-3 months of using this product but as you can see in the image below, the texture underneath my eyes has blurred out slightly and the under-eye area has become slightly brighter too (I have tried to take both the pictures under the exact lighting conditions and neither of them is edited). Let me assure you that no product will provide you much starker results than this in a span of 5-6 weeks, and the before and after pics by shady brands are usually photoshopped. Therefore, I can say with confidence that if you use this eye serum religiously then you will definitely see a visible improvement in your dark circles and puffiness by the end of 2-3 months. Keep in mind that no treatment can eliminate dark circles on its own and needs to accompanied by adequate sleep, hydration, and a healthy diet. Knowing the cause behind your dark circles can also help you determine what course of action to take to tackle them.
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution is priced at £5.80 on Cult Beauty, which roughly translates to around INR 550, which is a very decent price for an eye serum that should last you around 5 months if you use the right amount twice a day. I usually order one product at a time from Cult Beauty and have not been charged any customs on my order yet, and the website also has regular sales with zero international shipping and a coupon code for free international shipping for first time users. Plus my orders reach me within 10 days on most occasions, which is why I will highly recommend you to buy your The Ordinary products from Cult Beauty and you can check it out for other international brands too. If you are still not convinced, or are worried about customs, then you can look at Instagram stores that sell The Ordinary products in India, but come what may, I will highly recommend you to try out this eye serum if you have been struggling with keeping the dark circles and puffy bags at bay!
