A toner is an essential skincare product for those who suffer from open pores, and if you have acne-prone skin then a toner with green tea extracts will be a boon for your skin. Luckily for all us with acne issues, there is a perfect toner in the market now that will close your pores and keep the acne at bay. I am talking about the Jiore Meridiem Green Tea Pore Toner, which I was recently sent by the brand to try out. Read on to find out my thoughts on this wonderful product.
The Meridiem Green Tea Toner is a product from Jiore, a Chennai based skincare brand that has formulated a range of products for different skincare concerns. This toner is recommended by the brand for those with acne-prone skin. The product comes in a white plastic bottle with a minimalistic green design and a screw-on lid. You get 100ml of product for INR 1300. With the goodness of Japanese Green Tea, panthenol and nourishing seed oils, the product claims to revitalize and hydrate the skin while making it smooth and supple.
This toner has a watery consistency but you can see some oils shimmering through the formula. It has a sweet herbal scent with a whiff of green tea in it which is quite soothing. I wet a cotton pad with this product and apply it on my cleansed and towel dried face before applying my serum or moisturiser. The toner feels very cooling on the skin and is also quite gentle. It does not cause any irritation or tingling on the skin and in fact, helps to calm down any irritation caused by pimples. A few seconds after using this product, I can notice that my skin has become tighter or firmer, which indicates that the product has closed any open pores on my face. Since the formula also contains green tea extracts which are rich in anti-oxidants, it helps in shrinking any active acne on the skin and clears clogged pores to prevent future breakouts.
The formula also contains a blend of essential oils, such as lemongrass oil and lavender oil. While lemongrass oil has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties which prevent breakouts and skin infections, lavender oil helps to calm down any redness and fades acne scars with regular use. This toner is also alcohol-free, which ensures that it will not dry out the skin, and the oils help in creating a moisture barrier on the face.
Another benefit of this toner is that it is mildly acidic and helps to maintain the protective acidic barrier of the skin. The skin’s acid mantle is an acidic layer on the skin with a pH of around 5.5, which helps to protect the skin against bacterial infections. If you wash your face with a soap-based face wash or cleanser which is alkaline in nature, it may neutralize or break down this acid barrier, leaving your skin exposed to contaminations. Which is why using this toner is a must after washing your face because it helps to restore the natural pH of the skin.
Overall, the Meridiem Green Tea Toner by Jiore lives up to all its claims and is an excellent toner for those suffering from frequent breakouts. When incorporated into a regular CTM routine, it will provide you clear and acne-free skin, without any clogged pores, white heads or black heads. You may feel that the price is a little steep, but this bottle will last you for a good 6 months, making this product worth every penny. I will highly recommend it to all of you who are in the market for a high-quality toner.
