The Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color has to be one of the most popular products from the 9 to 5 range, with tons of beauty bloggers raving about it. I was perhaps living under a rock to not have tried this lip color for the longest time, but luckily the brand was kind enough to send me across the shade Pink Plush from the range and I am already a huge fan! Read on for my detailed review and swatches of this product!
The Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color comes in a peachy pink tube with a rose-gold lid and a flexible doe foot applicator. The formula has mousse to cream consistency that dries to a matte finish upon application. One may compare this product to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams as the formula, texture and the sweet candy fragrance of both the products is quite similar. However, I feel that the Lakme formula is slightly more pigmented and smoother, especially for the lighter shades, and is therefore better for pigmented or textured lips. Also, the flexible doe foot wand on the Lakme Lip Color allows more even and precise application than the NYX wand.
The shade Pink Plush is a beautiful bright pink colour with slight coral undertones. Usually, light pink colours in a moussey formulation look slightly patchy on my pigmented lips, but this shade is superbly pigmented and provides opaque and even coverage in one stroke without any patchiness. It dries down to a matte finish in a couple of minutes, after which it is semi transfer-proof. If you will eat something oily, it will disappear from the centre of your lips but with non-oily food and drinks it will pretty much stay put for at least 5 hours, after which it will start to crumble and fade a little. The light-weight formula is a delight to wear on the lips because you wouldn’t even feel the product on your lips. Also, this shade makes for a beautiful cheek tint too, just dot your cheeks a couple of times and blend in to get a sheer and natural rosy flush.
Overall, if you are a fan of comfortable and non-drying matte lip colours and love a multi-tasking product then the Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Matte Mousse Lip & Cheek Color is a must-buy for you.
