I have previously reviewed the NYX Professional Makeup Soft Matte Lip Creams in the shades Zurich and Abu Dhabi on the blog, but I was recently sent another lip cream from the range in the shade Budapest and I feel like I have found my perfect shade in this formula. The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams come in coloured tubes that represent the shade within, along with a doe foot applicator. The formula is a velvety cream that dries down to a matte finish on the lips and has a sweet candy fragrance. The shade Budapest is a deep brownish pink which looks slightly different on different people. When swatched on my hand, it looks more brown with pink undertones, but on my lips, it is a perfect deep pink nude with an earthy undertone. I feel that this shade will suit all Indian skin tones very well.
The formula is similar to that of the other shades I have tried from this range, but the longevity of this shade is slightly more because it is a darker shade. As I mentioned before, it is a velvety smooth cream that is easy to apply and provides opaque pigmentation in one swipe. The formula dries down to a very comfortable matte finish in around 5 minutes or so, but until it dries down, it will move around on the lips so you have to be careful till it settles. It is not transfer-proof, and fades a little every time I eat something but it does fade evenly and starts looking like a stain after 4-5 hours. If you will eat something very oily then chances are that the formula will bleed or fade completely. I will recommend topping it up after a meal to have an even pigmentation on your lips, and this is feasible because the formula can be layered easily without any crumbling or uneven texture, unlike the super matte liquid lipsticks. Also, one thing that I like about this particular shade, as opposed to the lighter shades from the range, is that it does not exaggerate the creases of my lips.
Overall, I feel that if you are planning to invest in one shade from the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream range then you can go for Budapest blindly because it will suit all skin tones. This lip cream is particularly suitable for those who like a matte finish but cannot stand the dryness of liquid lipsticks and do not mind reapplying their lipstick a couple of times a day.
