NYX Professional Makeup is currently celebrating its 3rd birthday in India and they were kind enough to send me a few of their products to join in the celebrations. One of the products they sent me was the NYX Professional Makeup Perfect Filter Eyeshadow Palette in the shade Rustic Antique. Here are my thoughts on this palette after testing it out on multiple occasions.
The NYX Professional Makeup Perfect Filter Eyeshadow Palette in the shade Rustic Antique contains 10 warm-toned shades that include peaches, browns and pinks, as well as a beautiful gold. The palette is a mix of shimmery as well as matte shades and has enough of both to create multiple looks with just this palette. The shimmers are pretty smooth and pigmented whereas the mattes are a little bit chalky, but not too bad in the pigmentation department.
The brand claims that this palette creates a filter-like effect on the eyes, and I quite agree with this claim. The shades are decently pigmented and blend quite easily on the eyes with both a blending brush or a finger. None of the shades is too intensely pigmented, which is actually a good thing because you can easily blend the colours together to create a seamless eyeshadow look.
I particularly love the golden shade which gives a beautiful foiled finish on the lids and can also be used as an eyeliner with a wet brush. I also love the shimmery pinky and peachy shades which can be worn all over the lid on their own for a more natural look or can be glammed up with a deeper matte shade in the crease. All the shades other than the matte beige shade show up on my skin quite well but I do not like the whitish shade in the top right corner because it is a bit too pale and chalky for me. However, the shimmery highlight shade in the top row looks really pretty in the inner corner of my eyes as well as on my cheekbones as a highlighter.
Overall, I feel that this palette is great for fair to slightly dusky Indian skin tones and it is quite versatile in terms of the number of looks you can create using just this product. I feel that if I am travelling somewhere to attend a wedding then I will just carry this eyeshadow palette with me because it will pair beautifully with almost all ethnic wear. I like the fact that the pigmentation is beginner-friendly and you can correct your blending mistakes easily. However, the colour payoff is still quite decent.
