Good Vibes is an Indian skincare and haircare brand that is available on Purplle.com. This affordable brand seems to have mixed reviews on the internet, and the sponsored YouTube collaborations have left many consumers confused regarding the actual efficacy of the products. I recently picked up one of their newer launches, the Good Vibes Keratin Strengthening Hair Cream, and here are my unbiased thoughts on the product.
The Good Vibes Hair Creams are essentially thick hair masks that you are supposed to apply to shampooed, wet hair for 10-15 minutes and then wash off. There are a number of variants available in this range but I went for the Keratin version because it claims to work on dry and damaged hair to make them smoother and stronger. My hair has become quite frizzy and lifeless this Monsoon season and I thought that this variant could bring it back to life.
The formula is essentially a thick white cream, which to be honest does not have a very pleasant smell and reminds me of a car in a petrol pump (people with motion sickness might relate). The smell is essentially quite “chemically” in the jar but it is not as strong on the hair and you will only smell it faintly after washing the product off. The ingredient list contains nourishing ingredients such as Keratin Oil, Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil and Glycerin but this cream also contains dimethicone. The formula is however Paraben and Sulfate free.
I use it as a hair mask on my wet, shampooed hair without conditioning my hair first. The product spreads easily on the hair but does not feel slippery like a conditioner. It feels like a styling cream on the hair more than a hair mask. One jar contains 100gm of product which lasts 5-6 uses on my waist-length hair (I apply this from the mid-lengths of my hair to the tips).
Once I wash off the product, it does leave my hair detangled and smoother than it is after using a conditioner. It is effective at reducing frizziness even though it is unable to completely remove it. My hair looks shinier and healthier since I started using this product and is easier to manage in the humid weather.
Overall, I feel that this product does not provide spectacular results like some of the other hair masks I have used but it does work well for the price of INR 315 per tub. It can work as a better alternative to conditioner if your hair is dull or damaged or is becoming too frizzy in the rainy season. The strong chemical scent is a con though, so I will warn you to sniff this at your own risk. In conclusion, this is a decent product for the price and I am satisfied, if not overjoyed with the difference it made to my fine, frizzy and lifeless hair.
