Have I ever used a mascara that is not from Maybelline? Possibly not, and as luck may have it, I recently received yet another Maybelline mascara as a giveaway prize and I am not complaining! Today I will be reviewing the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in the shade Blackest Black for all of you. Read on to find out my thoughts on this product.
I received a mini of this mascara, which contains 4.5ml of product, but the packaging is similar to the full-size version. I personally love the pink and lime green packaging because it is quite quirky and different from most mascaras. The brush of this mascara is also quite unique and has a somewhat spiral arrangement of short bristles which allows even application of the product from the root to the tip without any clumping.
Performance-wise, this formula is quite lengthening but does not really provide any volume or curl to the lashes. If you use an eyelash curler before application then you will be able to achieve the long and fluttery butterfly lashes with this product. It separates the lashes pretty well and adds a lot of length, so it will work well for you if you have thicker lashes to begin with and just need a bit of lift and length. It can be layered to get slightly more volume, and I prefer going in with 2 coats for a thicker finish for my lashes. The shade Blackest Black is a washable version of the mascara, hence removing this product is also pretty hassle-free, and I am able to get rid of all the mascara in one swipe with my Simple Micellar Cleansing Water.
Overall, I feel that this mascara is great for everyday use for those who dislike clumpy lashes and want something more natural. It will provide a nice “my lashes but better” effect when used after curling the lashes. If you are someone who wants long and well-separated lashes then you can definitely invest in this mascara. The only issue though is that this mascara is not readily available in India, and is priced at INR 950+ on Amazon. Is it worth this price, in my opinion? Definitely not. But if you are able to pick this up somewhere at a more reasonable price then it can be a nice lengthening mascara for your collection.
