Every year, I try to do one wedding guest outfit post on my blog, and since this year I am trying to join the sustainable fashion bandwagon, I will also be adding restyling tips so that you can reuse the same outfit for different weddings. I am including one traditional and one slightly more contemporary look in this edition to suit all ages, tastes and budgets. Do let me know in the comments which look do you prefer!
1. Contemporary Style – Crop top and Lehenga: Pairing a crop top with a lehenga is all the rage this season and I love this trend because it allows you to experiment as well as mix and match. You can either go for a co-ordinated pair as in the picture or can choose a contrasting top. You can switch up and reuse this outfit on several occasions by changing the dupatta, or skipping the dupatta and adding a statement necklace or mang tika. If you want a younger look then you can opt for brighter colours and shorter sleeves and if you want a heavier look then you can go for a banarasi crop top or dupatta. The options with this look are truly endless and that’s why I am all for it!
2. Traditional Style – An Evergreen Saree: Sarees are super sustainable because they never go out of fashion, can be handed down through generations and can be draped and styled in several ways. A heavier saree like the one in the picture is more suitable for a night event but can be worn during the day with a nude lipstick and a golden blouse to dress it down. A lighter saree with just border work can also work for both day and night. You can wear it with a heavy blouse with embroidery work at night and can pair it with a light matching or contrasting blouse in the daytime. For a bolder look, go for a sleeveless or backless blouse or let your hair down!
On a parting note, I would like to say that if you are buying an outfit to wear to a wedding, make sure that you are comfortable wearing it and that it is something you can reuse. Otherwise, it will be shoved to the back of the closet and that is against our sustainable fashion resolution! Have you styled an outfit for a wedding recently? Do let me know what you wore and how you plan to reuse it!
Super pretty!
