I have finally found a true nude for my lips, the perfect “My Lips But Better Shade”. It is the shade Mauve-1 from the Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gradation range. While it is clear that this lip shade is my go-to these days for when I have no other makeup on or when I have gone heavy on the eye makeup, here is how this product fares in other aspects.
The Maybelline Lip Gradation Lipsticks are twist up crayons with a sponge on the other end to create the “gradient lips” effect. Because the shade Mauve-1 is a perfect nude for my lips, I cannot really create a gradient effect with this shade, but I basically bought this product for its colour and formula anyway. The shade is a taupish-mauve, which has stronger brown undertones than pink or mauve undertones. The formula is pretty opaque and has a very unique velvety matte texture that glides easily on the lips. Since it has a velvety texture, it is somewhere between a creamy matte and a flat matte and does transfer a little when you eat or drink.
It is pretty opaque on the lips in one or two swipes and the thin crayon tip allows precise application. I personally find the formula pretty comfortable but it does exaggerate any lines or dryness, so if you have really dry lips then you would need to hydrate and scrub them prior to using this product. It stays on the lips for a good 4-5 hours, and fades evenly with time. It does stain the lips a little but since this particular shade is so light, it is pretty easy to remove.
Priced at INR 550, the product is slightly pricey considering it is a Maybelline lipstick, but I don’t mind paying the amount for the formula. If you want a lip colour that you can put on without giving much thought to and simply heading out the door, then you must pick up this lipstick.

Maybelline really does have some lovely lippies! This one is gorgeous (:
Yup, and affordable too 🙂
This one is my absolute favourite..I rarely buy the same shade again.. but for this I did.. though quantity is really less..and the smudger or whatever the other side is of almost no use
Yup, I agree about the smudger, but I like the formula 🙂
