A warm welcome to you to my post!
Whether you are a beauty pro or a beginner or even a beauty enthusiast, the perfect base is the goal you desire. And no brownie points for guessing what you need for a perfect base, a foundation!!!!. Today’s post is about a foundation that has been in the market for a while now and I have taken my own sweet time to test this one so that I could present a view on it.
I am talking about the Nykaa Skingenius Sculpting & Hydrating foundation. It’s a
liquid foundation with impressive ingredients and a claim which is rarely heard of. It
claims that once applied it will adapt to your closest skin colour, it’s basically to
make online shopping easier as choosing your foundation colour online can be even more difficult then pleasing Gods. And oh its formulated in Italy.
The other claims made by Nykaa are:
-Weightless texture
-Luxurious long wear formula
-It melts seamlessly into your skin and hydrates your skin with its Polyfit technology
and Hyaluronic acid (the impressive ingredient I was talking about).
-It stays true to its colour and also the sun filters shield your complexion all day long.
-It covers imperfections virtually.
-It gives a radiant lit-from-within glow.
Since it’s a base makeup product, I have laid down few criteria to explain how it
fared and on what parameters I tested it. Let’s begin:
Availability: It’s easily available on Nykaa’s website and in Nykaa stores (which are
located in a majority of the Metro cities). In short, it’s presence is good.
Rating: 10/10
Packaging: It is housed in a small cardboard packaging with a vibrant pink
colour, just like other Nykaa products. Each and every detail about the foundation is stated on the packaging (the full list of ingredients is mentioned). The bottle of foundation is that of plastic and is tiny miny and slim containing a net quantity of 30ml. It has a nozzle to pour out the foundation (I mean no fancy dropper or a convenient pump) but it is not super inconvenient to use. I would say its travel friendly and also easy to carry around in your handbag. One drawback I find is that the bottle of foundation doesn’t state what shade it is, only the outer packaging mentions it (so you will have to memorize either the shade number or the shade name.)
Rating: 7/10.
Pricing: The 30 ml bottle costs Rs 575 but you can pick it up during discounts. (Who doesn’t like saving some bucks).
Rating: 6/10
Shade range: It has 5 shades to offer. Which I think is not enough to cater to all Indian
skin tones. I wish they introduce some more shades to their range. I picked up shade
02 Almond Beige, which would suit fair to medium skin tones, and it has a mild yellow
undertone.
Rating: 6/10
Texture: Cream like, not very liquidy or solid, just perfect. It blends seamlessly into
the skin (one of the claims proves to be true). It has a bit of a chemical fragrance
which fades away gradually but could be an issue if you are sensitive to such strong
fragrances.
Coverage: The foundation offers a light to medium coverage. Now, this would be a personal preference, if you like your foundation to be matte and full coverage – you might end up disliking it or not liking it much. But if you are someone like me who likes a
dewy finish and a medium coverage that doesn’t give a made-up look, this foundation
is made for you. You can use it on a daily basis, just remember to use a matte primer
and a compact or a translucent powder with it. It definitely gives the face a radiant glow. Since it’s a medium coverage foundation it won’t hide all your spots and blemishes, you will have to cover that up with the help of a concealer. It does provide an even skin tone though. The formula does not feel heavy on the skin but it does feel sticky at
times. So if you are an oily skinned girl I suggest you stay away from this one, even a
combination skin type person will find it a little sticky but again if topped up with a
compact it will be fine. My other observation is that during the Monsoon it makes
your face a little more sticky than usual. However, for dry skin girls this is a God sent
product and it won’t settle in your dry patches (if you moisturise well). Plus it will
give you a beautiful and a subtle glow.
Rating: 7.5/10
Lasting Power: It lasts upto 5-6 hours if set properly.
Rating: 8/10
Lastly, I would say it’s a perfect foundation for daily use and is more of a BB cream with
a slightly high coverage. Do I recommend it? Just keep your skin type in mind – if you have dry skin then this is a must-have for you.
I hope you liked the review!
