Remember the good old days of cleansing milk? Back when there were no micellar waters or cleansing balms to take our makeup off in one swipe? Those were the days when double cleansing was unheard of and a makeup wipe was hard to come by in a supermarket. With the advent of these products and waterproof makeup, the trusty cleansing milks lost their sheen and were pushed to the back of many a makeup closet, and I must confess, I purchased the Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk primarily for nostalgic reasons. While it is an absolute joy to relive a teenage memory, here is how the product fared in other departments.
The Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk is a rich milky cream with the classic Nivea scent that I adore. It removes light weight makeup quite easily while being extremely nourishing and hydrating – I can actually feel that my skin is plumper and softer just after using this product. However, since I always wash my face with a cleanser after using this cleansing milk, I am not sure how much I actually benefit from its nourishing properties, although my skin does feel more moisturised than usual.
When it comes to removing waterproof makeup, this cleansing milk does not fare so well, especially with waterproof mascara, eyeliner and liquid lipsticks. Personally, I reserve this for the days when I am wearing less or no makeup, because it also removes the dirt and grease from the skin even when there is no makeup on it. I love its creamy texture on the skin and the fact that is so very gentle, and no, it does not sting the eyes either!
Overall, the Nivea Refreshing Cleansing Milk is a good option for those who wear light to minimal makeup on a daily basis. It can also be a good first cleanse of the makeup removal regimen for those who prefer heavier/long-wearing makeup. An excellent cleansing milk for all skin types, I would particularly recommend this one to those with sensitive skin.
This sounds lovely (: I don’t wear face makeup, but it still seems like it would nourish the skin very well!
Yes it can be used even when you don’t have makeup on 🙂
I like the sound of this as it seems very gentle. I may pick it up for days when I’m not wearing much makeup x
