I have always felt that Kama Ayurveda products are a bit too expensive, but the product I will talk about today is one of the more reasonably priced products from the range. The Kama Ayurveda Foot Scrub is priced at INR 550 for a 50gm tube, which quite surprised me because I had expected that it would cost around INR 1000. Still, I did not want to buy the full-sized product on a whim and therefore purchased a sample from Smytten instead. This 8 gm sample provided me a good 4-5 uses, which means that the 50gm tube will last you really long. Here is how the product performed on my sunburnt feet after my recent vacation.
True to the reputation of the brand, this foot scrub contains a great set of ingredients. It has apricot shell particles to scrub the dead skin off the feet, chamomile for soothing dry and damaged skin and tea tree extracts to cool the skin and to calm down any irritation or redness. It also contains Basil extracts that are supposed to alleviate any aches or pains and the extracts of musk and sandalwood to provide a pleasant scent to the feet. All these ingredients are combined to form a deep orange gel in which you can see the ground apricot shell scrub particles.
Upon massaging on the skin, the gel soon turns into a white cream that further gets absorbed into the skin within a few more minutes. The brand recommends to massage the product on the feet for around 5 minutes, and on doing so, the cream gets almost completely absorbed by the skin and only the scrub particles remain on the surface. Therefore this foot scrub not only helps in removing dead skin with the gritty exfoliating action of the apricot shell but also hydrates the feet at the same time. I also feel a slight cooling sensation while rubbing in the product and it has a mild musky scent that most people would enjoy.
Overall, this product performs really well at making the feet smooth and moisturized and at removing any dullness from the feet. Personally, I would have preferred if it had more of a cooling action like The Body Shop Peppermint Foot Scrub but nevertheless it is still a great foot scrub. The scrubbing action is neither too mild nor too rough, making it perfect for using once or twice a week for the maintenance of your feet. However, if you have severely tanned feet then you may need to use this more often and in conjunction with a brightening foot cream for quicker results. Overall, I will recommend this scrub to everyone because taking care of the feet is something that we all should spare some time for.
