It happens to me often that I love the formula of a dark lip color so much that I purchase more neutral shades from the range but they end up being not as good as the darker ones. Anyone who has played around with makeup might be able to guess that creating a smoother formula with darker colors is easier than with lighter shades. Despite knowing this, I continue to purchase lighter variants of the lip products that I love because lighter colors are so much more practical and wearable on a daily basis. If you have been following my blog since its conception (Anyone out there? Do let me know!) then you might remember my blog post where I RAVED about the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in the shade 001 – India Intrigue, a nice deep fuchsia. This product encouraged me to buy a lighter shade from the range, and I chose the shade 020 – Rio Rush. I have extremely mixed feelings about this particular shade which I will talk about today.

This particular shade is a deep, toned down version of a bubblegum pink which appears frighteningly bright and neon when swatched on the skin but looks way more natural on the lips. While India Intrigue applies evenly in a single swipe, Rio Rush requires much more effort while application. The first layer goes on pretty patchy, but once you really work it into your lips by pursing them hard and then apply a second coat and dab it in too, you are left with an almost opaque wash of color. While the pigmentation and the finish of the product are satisfactory post following these steps, the wear time is not even half that of India Intrigue. India Intrigue stays on my lips all day, fading gracefully and leaving behind a deep pink stain after a few hours. Rio Rush, on the other hand, does not stain the lips as much and once the product wears off, the stain left behind is hardly visible on my lips. The wear time of this product is no more than 2-3 hours if you do not eat during this period.

Comfortwise, both shades perform equally well. The formula is quite hydrating and gentle although the scent smells like chemicals with a sweet undertone, which may turn off a few people. The product adds a gloss to my lips while it lasts and is suitable if you need a break from matte lipsticks. The packaging is super cute and unique with a cuboidal tube instead of a cylindrical one and the doe foot applicator works really well too.

So, should you buy this product or not? Well, if you like this particular shade and do not care much about wear time then go ahead and buy it. The Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stains are priced at INR 725 for 8ml of product, which is definitely costlier than a standard lip gloss but these are more opaque if applied correctly. If you need something long-lasting and hydrating then opt for the darker shades from this collection instead ( I can personally vouch for India Intrigue).
I hope that this review was helpful. You can buy the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in the shade Rio Rush here.

I’ve been looking at these but I wasn’t sure if I should pick them up! I might go ahead a try a shade or 2! Thanks for sharing!
I would recommend trying a darker color, they last longer and apply better 🙂
I had 2 shades of this and hated them both. They looked patchy and wore off in an odd maner. I won’t be trying any more from this line.
The darker colors work better for me, the lighter ones are definitely patchy.
I think these are out of stock in India. Where could I possibly get these?
They are available on Amazon. I have added a link in the last line of the blog. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Payal, looking forward to reading your blog 🙂
Stains really don’t help me much as I have really pigmented lips. But this shade is pretty 🙂
I like the shade too 🙂
