The weather in India is so humid these days that I am constantly on the hunt for a foundation/bb cream that is lightweight and matte. Although I had not tried anything from Essence in the past, I took a risk and purchased the Essence All About Matt Oil Free Make Up, without even looking at the reviews online! To be honest, I was attracted to the cute packaging and the claims of this product being matte. Sometimes, such bargains do pay off, and I may have found a new favorite product for my face. 🙂
I am not sure whether to call this product a BB cream or a foundation, I feel that it is a combination of both. It is light weight and provides a natural finish like a BB cream but the coverage can be built up to resemble a medium coverage foundation. The consistency is also that of a liquid foundation and it literally spreads like butter on the skin. The formula is very blendable and gets absorbed into the skin pretty quickly, however, the coverage stays intact, thereby providing a natural, flawless finish. Unless you have any big blemishes to cover, you can use this product on its own, although you might need a concealer for the under eye area.
Coming to the color of the product, I went for the shade 30 Matt Sand, and it is a pretty good match for my complexion. It has a peachy undertone but still manages to add some brightness to my skin. The pigmentation is quite good and you do not need to layer the product unless you have some stubborn spots that you want to cover up. The most impressive part of the formula, however, is the fact that it is indeed completely matte, without being uncomfortable to wear. The product stays in place for a good 6-8 hours and it remains matte throughout this duration. I only noticed a tiny bit of oiliness in my T-zone but usually, this part of my face gets very shiny when I use other products. Basically, this tiny tube is a boon for the humid climate of the Monsoon season.
If you have oily skin and need an upgrade from your BB cream then you must try out the Essence All About Matt Oil Free Makeup. It also comes in two other shades that are lighter than Matt Sand. This foundation is perfect for those who want a matte finish without using a powder, and the added bonus is that it is quite hydrating too. Also, a 30 ml tube is priced at INR 399, which is quite affordable for this kind of a product. So, what are you waiting for, click this link to get your hands on one of these beauties today!
P.S. – I forgot to mention that the product has a faint, fruity smell of musk melons, another reason to love it, right? Do let me know if you try it, I hope it works for all of you <3
