I know that the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal has been around for a long time, however, I never tried the shade, Deep Black, because I felt that there were more affordable drugstore options for a simple black kajal. Lakme recently dropped the price of this product to INR 180, and I thought that it was finally time to give this one a shot. This is going to be a thorough review because I have already finished up one pencil and am on my second one at the moment!
This Kajal pencil is a retractable one, which is perfect for a lazy girl like me who tends to lose all her sharpeners! The formula is super creamy and the shade is jet black, I feel that it is creamier and blacker than the different variants of the Maybelline Colossal Kajal. The only downside of the tip being so soft is that it tends to break if you apply too much pressure, so be gentle while using this pencil.
In terms of longevity, it lasts for about 4-5 hours, after which it fades around the corners of the eyes. The color stays put on the rest of my waterline for a good 8 hours. This is neither smudge-proof nor waterproof, however, the formula is extremely gentle and better suited for sensitive eyes than most smudge-proof kajals. My eyes tend to get irritated very quickly but they don’t react at all to this kajal because it does not tug at the waterline while application and does not contain any ingredients that may sting the eyes.
As I mentioned before, this eye pencil is available for INR 180 as of now and I really hope that Lakme does not increase the price again. I would go ahead and state that this is the best affordable kajal in the market, in my opinion. If you are stepping out of the house only for a few hours and do not really need something that is budge proof, the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal might be the perfect product for you!
