Suganda Pure Squalane | Review

I guess we can all agree that moisturization is the key to healthy skin. But finding the perfect moisturizer is always a struggle! With so many moisturizers having a long ingredient list, it becomes difficult to pick one that will agree with your skin. Doesn’t it make sense to cut back on the ingredients and opt for a moisturizer that is the most identical to your skin’s natural oils? If you think that this makes sense, then the Suganda Pure Squalane would be right up your alley! Here is my review of the product after testing it out in multiple ways!

Suganda Pure Squalane | Review

What is Squalene?

Squalene is a lipid that is naturally produced by our skin. It acts as an emollient and helps to keep our skin moisturized, soft and supple. Our skin produces ample quantities of this lipid when we are young, but as we grow older, the squalene production goes down. This is why we often experience dullness and dryness on our skin in our late twenties and thirties. At this stage, we need to apply more oils on our skin externally, to compensate for the declining squalene production by the skin. Squalane is one such emollient that is commonly used for this purpose.

Squalene vs. Squalane

Squalene is not just produced by our skin, it is also found naturally in certain plants. Some of the common sources of plant squalene are Olives and grains. The hydrogenated form of Squalene is known as Squalane, which is the stable form of the molecule. Hence, when squalene is derived from plant sources, it is sold in its hydrogenated form by brands, so that it remains stable. The Suganda Squalane is one such example of plant-derived squalane, and this one is derived from olives. It is a light-weight, non-comodogenic oil that helps to combat dryness and flakiness on the skin.

How To Use Suganda Pure Squalane

The best way to use the Suganda Pure Squalane is to apply it on damp skin. You can either spritz a mist or toner on your skin and then apply squalane on top or can layer it on top of other hydrating serums too. Since it is 100% pure Squalane without any added actives, the product can easily be layered with serums containing actives as well. You can use this oil as a moisturizer in both your AM and PM routines because it is light-weight and non-greasy. You can also use it on your lips or hair for some softness and shine. Of course, you can use it on your body too. Basically, it can be used to combat dryness in any part of the body. Because of its light consistency, it can be used by all skin types.

My Experience With The Suganda Pure Squalane

I am oily-skinned gal who loves facial oils, which is why light-weight facial oils are my jam! The Suganda Pure Squalane ticks all the right boxes for me because it truly feels like an extension of my skin! Due to the fact that it is very similar to our skin’s natural oils, it does not feel heavy or greasy on my skin. It adds a dewy finish to the skin without looking oily. It makes my skin soft, supple and moisturized without any stickiness or discomfort. I use it during the day under makeup and at night as the last step of my PM routine.

Also, when my skin feels a little dry towards the middle of the day, I spritz some floral mist on my face and re-apply a few drops of Squalane. It gets rid of the dry and stretchy feeling instantly and leaves my skin rejuvenated. Long story short, I love this no-nonsense facial oil that can be used in so many different ways. It is priced at INR 450 for a 20ml bottle which makes it fairly affordable too!

Do grab this product if you are in the market for a facial oil, I am sure you won’t regret the purchase!
