Lipstick For Lunch

Organic Riot Spotlight Cream | Review

It is that dreaded time of the year again when the weather is cold and dry and unforgiving on our skin. Who else detests winter with a passion just like I do? My flaky skin and “arid as a desert” elbows, hands and knees add to the gloominess and the lethargy that consumes me in the colder months. This time round, however, I am armed with a bunch of products to combat dryness, and the Organic Riot Spotlight Cream for elbows, hands and knees is the star of my skincare arsenal. This product was kindly sent to me by Organic Riot and Nykaa, and I can’t thank me enough for introducing me to this winter saviour. Read on to find out why I love this cream so much.

Organic Riot Spotlight Cream | Review

The Formula and Texture

The Organic Riot Spotlight Cream is an extremely hydrating cream with a bunch of nourishing natural ingredients to combat severe dryness of the skin. It is specially formulated to tackle extremely dry hands, knees and elbows but can also be used as a body moisturiser. The formula is quite light-weight and almost feels like a moussey cream in texture and consistency. It sinks into the skin within seconds but leaves behind a slight slip and shine which I personally do not mind. It is extremely hydrating and works well at fighting flakiness and extreme dryness, thanks to the presence of nourishing ingredients such as Mango butter, Kokum butter and Coconut Oil. The cream smells like cake frosting (which I love) and is beige in colour. It does not leave behind a white cast or any cakiness on the skin.

The Packaging and Storage

The product comes in a quirky looking tube with sky blue and baby blue stripes that look quite appealing to the eye. Since the formula contains some natural oils and ingredients that tend to melt at different temperatures, some oil components tend to separate from the cream if you do not keep the tube upright (lid resting on the shelf). The brand recommends storing the product in the refrigerator if you notice that the ingredients are separating. I personally store it at room temperature and like to shake the tube before use to ensure that I don’t get just the oil in the first squeeze.

My final verdict on the Organic Riot Spotlight Cream

The only downside of the product is the price (INR 1120 for 50gm) which is quite steep, but other than that I absolutely adore everything about this product. If you are in the market for a winter body moisturiser then I will highly recommend trying out the Organic Riot Spotlight Cream, particularly if you find body butters too heavy and body lotions too light for your skin type.
